A Brooklyn man was hospitalized Tuesday after a tree snapped in half and fell on him.
The victim, identified by a relative as Wayne Knight, was walking on MacDonough St. near Saratoga Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant when the splintered portion of a Bradford Pear fell on him about 2:50 p.m.
“He said hi to us and kept walking,” said witness Shay Wilson, 34, noting a loud snapping sound followed. “I turned around and saw his legs sticking out” from under the tree.
“All of the sudden the tree just came down,” added witness Paul DeJesus, 64. “It came down so fast. It’s unreal.”
Knight was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was on a respirator, his brother said.
