A FAIR Trade coffee morning was recently held by Newcastle Emlyn Girl Guiding at the Cawdor Hall in the town.

The Rainbows, Brownies and Guides were all involved, with the Brownies running the coffee morning towards their hostess badge. All the funds raised from the event, which also had support from the Co-op in town, went to the Newcastle Emlyn Fair Trade Group,

The Guides also carried out a survey around town as part of their community action to see what people knew about Fair Trade and how it impacts Newcastle Emlyn as a Fair Trade town.

Fair Trade fortnight takes place in Newcastle Emlyn from February 14-March 11, with a number of events being planned. A grant has been secured from Hub Cymru Africa, which is funded by the Welsh Government, to support the fortnight and promote Fair Trade.

Another survey will be carried out after that to see how the events have helped to improve awareness of Fair Trade.
