Disaster declaration extended for Texas counties affected by Hurricane Harvey

AUSTIN, TX (KLTV) -Friday, Governor Greg Abbott renewed the disaster proclamation for 60 counties that suffered catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Governor Abbott said a state of disaster continues to exist in those same counties. The renewal of this proclamation has occurred on a monthly basis since the original proclamation of August 23, 2017.

All available state government resources are to be available to cope with this disaster. It also authorizes the suspension of statutes and rules that would in any way prevent, hinder or delay necessary action in coping with this disaster.

The included counties have grown from an initial 30 to a total of 60.

The counties: Aransas, Austin, Bee, Brazoria, Calhoun, Chambers, Colorado, DeWitt, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Goliad, Gonzales, Harris, Jackson, Jefferson, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kleberg, Lavaca, Liberty, Live Oak, Matagorda, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Victoria, Waller, Wharton, Wilson, Angelina, Atascosa, Bastrop, Bexar, Brazos, Burleson, Caldwell, Cameron, Comal, Grimes, Guadalupe, Hardin, Jasper, Kerr, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Montgomery, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Washington and Willacy.
