SWAT team called for standoff in Shelby

The Nebraska State Patrol S.W.A.T. team was called to a home in Shelby on Thursday, prompting a local school to go into lockout and multiple roads to be barricaded.
According to a press release by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were dispatched to a possible suicide threat at 430 West Pine Street.
According to the release, deputies arrived at the home and confronted the subject for a brief time, before he went back into his residence.
After negotiations between the Nebraska State Patrol S.W.A.T. team and the man, bean bags were deployed along with a K-9 to take the man into custody without him causing harm to himself.
