According to the Washington Post, President Donald Trump's confidante and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort has registered as a foreign agent for his lobbying work in the Ukraine.

The Post report states that Manafort "retroactively filed forms" revealing that "his firm received $17.1 million over two years from a political party that dominated Ukraine before its leader fled to Russia in 2014."

Manafort is a member of the growing group of Trump associates investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for their ties to Russia as he searches for potential collusion between the president's campaign and the Kremlin.

Earlier this month, Slate floated the idea that disgraced Trump national security adviser Mike Flynn may be cooperating with investigators as evidenced by Flynn's retroactive filing as a foreign agent for Russia. Manafort is now the third person associated with Trump to retroactively file as an agent, along with Flynn and former lobbying Jack Abramoff, who attempted to help the Republic of Congo get a meeting with the president.
