There will be a lot of drama Sunday, the final day of baseball’s 60-game season unless …

Things are so tight in the National League Central that the St. Louis Cardinals may have to play at least one and maybe two makeup games in Detroit on Monday to determine whether they’ll be in the postseason as a second-place team or as a Wild Card, or if they miss the cut.

Through play on Saturday, two of eight NL spots are still up for grabs and there are four teams in the running: the Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants.

The Cardinals and Brewers control their destiny. If they win on Sunday, they’re in. The Phillies need to win plus have the Brewers and Giants lose. The Giants need a win and a Brewers loss. Also, the Cardinals could avoid having to go to Detroit if they win and the Reds lose. That would clinch second place in the NL Central for the Cardinals.

On Saturday, the Chicago Cubs clinched the NL Central, the AL East-champion Tampa Bay Rays locked up the top seed in the AL and the Mets were eliminated from NL Wild Card contention.

The Cubs lost their game to the Chicago White Sox, but were crowned division champs with the Cardinals loss to the Brewers. The Rays sewed up the No. 1 seed when the Oakland Athletics lost Game 1 of their doubleheader against the Seattle Mariners. The Mets' longshot postseason hopes ended when they lost the opener of their twinbill with the Washington Nationals.

Here is a look at who would be playing whom in the Wild Card Series if the playoffs began today, plus magic numbers and remaining schedules:

(Ties will be broken in this order: 1. Head-to-head records (for teams in same division); 2. Division records; 3. Winning percentage for final 20 division games.
