Damage Unknown After Firefighters Battle McHenry House Blaze

Several crews from around the area helped battle the house fire.

MCHENRY, IL — The damage caused by a Wednesday fire at a two-story McHenry home is still unknown Thursday afternoon, hours after firefighters aggressively attacked flames coming from the house, Northwest Herald reported. According to the McHenry Township Fire Protection District, crews were called to the 1800 block of Redwood Lane at 2:39 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a structure fire, the news report said.

According to the fire district, firefighters discovered all members of the household had safely escaped from the home, as the district stresses the importance of working smoke detectors, as those are what alerted the family to the fire and contributed to their safe exit.

Northwest Herald reported crews from Richmond, Wonder Lake, Spring Grove, Woodstock, Round Lake, Crystal Lake, Lake Villa, Fox Lake, Wauconda and Nunda Township assisted at the scene, as the fire was put out within an hour, according to the fire district. The cause of the fire is being investigated by McHenry fire investigators and the McHenry Police Department, the news report said.
