Countryside picked for Clapham Park jv

Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association (MTVH) has picked Countryside as its preferred bidder for a joint venture (jv) to deliver the remaining elements of the Clapham Park regeneration scheme.

The scheme, which currently features more than 1,500 refurbishments and new homes, will include “at least” 2,482 homes under the jv across 17 sites, 53% of which will consist of affordable tenures. Alongside the family homes and one and two bedroom apartments will be a community centre, market square, two parks, commercial and retail space and a district heating system.

These homes will also boast sustainable features, including green and solar roofs, with the scheme including “extensive” cycle parking and electric vehicle charging points. With the jv prioritising placemaking and community development, the partnership has allocated £1 million upfront for facilities.

The Clapham Park site was originally under the ownership of the London Borough of Lambeth before transferring to MTVH. It received planning permission in 2019 for a new masterplan to deliver more than 2,500 more homes, extensive green space, infrastructure, community and commercial space.

The first 50 homes under the permission are under construction, with the jv building out the remainder.

Upon completion, Clapham Park will comprise more than 4,000 homes.
