The 10 Biggest Stars You Never Knew Were on Gilmore Girls

It should come as no surprise that Netflix's Gilmore Girls reboot is full of interesting faces; the original series also featured a ton of cameos. I'm not talking about the stunt-casting in which famous people played versions of themselves (Madeline Albright, Barbara Boxer, Norman Mailer, Paul Anka, Christiane Amanpour) or the now-well-known actors in extended roles (Adam Brody, Chad Michael Murray, Danny Pudi, Danny Strong, Krysten Ritter). I'm not even talking about the bands that played on the show (The Shins, The Bangles, Sonic Youth). These are the people who popped in and popped out before you even recognized them. How many of these appearances did you know about?

01
Jane Lynch (Season 1, Episode 10)
The CW

Jane Lynch (Season 1, Episode 10)

Before she went on to win a Golden Globe for her roles as Sue Slyvester on Glee, Lynch played a nurse in "Forgiveness and Stuff."

02
Brandon Routh (Season 1, Episode 13)
The CW

Brandon Routh (Season 1, Episode 13)

Routh got his big break in 2006's Superman Returns, but five years earlier, he played Jess (not that Jess) in "Concert Interruptus." He's come full circle, as he's now back on The CW in Legends of Tomorrow.

03
Seth MacFarlane (Several Episodes in Seasons 2, 3, and 4)
The CW

Seth MacFarlane (Several Episodes in Seasons 2, 3, and 4)

Family Guy mogul MacFarlane is known more for his voice work than his on-camera acting, but he has appeared in three episodes of Gilmore Girls as two different characters (Zack and Bob), and you can hear his voice in the season four episode "Die, Jerk."

04
Jon Hamm (Season 3, Episode 5)
The CW

Jon Hamm (Season 3, Episode 5)

Hamm might have the most notable appearance. Before his star-making turn in Mad Men, he played Peyton Sanders in "Eight O'Clock at the Oasis."

05
Victoria Justice (Season 4, Episode 3)
The CW

Victoria Justice (Season 4, Episode 3)

Nickelodeon star Justice's first-ever role was on Gilmore Girls! She played Jill #2 (yes, Jill #2) at a hobbit party at the inn in "The Hobbit, the Sofa, and Digger Stiles."

06
Max Greenfield (Season 4, Episode 4)
The CW

Max Greenfield (Season 4, Episode 4)

Eight whole years before he broke out as Schmidt in New Girl, Greenfield appeared in "Chicken or Beef?" as Lucas, a drunk guy who thinks it's hilarious that he shares a name with Luke.

07
Nick Offerman (Season 4, Episode 7 and Season 6, Episode 4)
The CW

Nick Offerman (Season 4, Episode 7 and Season 6, Episode 4)

America didn't yet know what a treasure Parks and Recreation's Offerman was when he popped up on Gilmore Girls as Beau Belleville, Jackson's brother, in "The Festival of Living Art" and "Always a Godmother, Never a God."

08
Rami Malek (Season 4, Episode 11)
The CW

Rami Malek (Season 4, Episode 11)

It's true: Gilmore Girls is the very first onscreen credit for the Emmy-winning star of Mr. Robot. He played Andy in "In the Clamor and the Clangor."

09
Abigail Spencer (Season 6, Episode 16)
The CW

Abigail Spencer (Season 6, Episode 16)

Timeless is one the the biggest hits of the Fall season, and its star, Spencer, showed up in "Bridesmaids Revisited," the episode when Rory finds out Logan has slept with half of his sister's friends.

10
Nasim Pedrad (Season 6, Episode 16)
The CW

Nasim Pedrad (Season 6, Episode 16)

In the very same episode, Rory goes to the bar to drown her sorrows and who is her waitress? Nasim Pedrad, who went on to be a featured player on Saturday Night Live before scoring a part on Scream Queens and a recurring role on New Girl.
