VAIL, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Photos of two horses, in not-so-good shape, generated a lot of buzz on social media last week.

Many wrote in to Tucson News Now asking us to investigate, and several others called law enforcement.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Agriculture checked out an area off of Dawn Road and Colossal Cave Road, where the horses were kept on state trust land.

The Dept of Agriculture went out to investigate and found that all of the horses had enough food, water & shelter on the 2,000 acres.

Investigators met with the family who owns the horses and learned that the one the public seemed most concerned about, the white horse, is over 30 years old. According to the family, they were struggling with what to do with it as it has something wrong with it.

The family was encouraged by the investigators to bring the horse to the vet and go from there.

The Dept. of Agriculture has said it will continue to follow up with the family, who they believe is getting the horse the care that it needs.
