A north central Kansas man will spend more than seven years behind bars for abusing five elderly adults under his care.

Attorney General Derek Schmidt says Thomas James Tholstrup, 25, of Delphos, pleaded guilty last month in Cloud County Court to one count of attempted aggravated criminal sodomy and four counts of mistreatment of a dependent adult. Schmidt says the crimes were committed at Park Villa Nursing home in Clyde between February 2016 and July 2017. Each of the five victims was an elderly, dependent adult.

Along with the prison sentence, Tholstrup will have to register as a sex offender and have lifetime post-release supervision. As part of the agreement, he will surrender his license as a certified nurse aide and he will not be allowed to work in the healthcare field for the duration of his sentence and post-release supervision.
