Hubert Garland

Hubert Garland, age 70 (known to many as Peabody or Junior) passed away peacefully on December 17th, 2017 in his home in Piney Flats, TN. He is preceded in death by his father Felmer Garland and his mother Okra Garland; sister-in-law Madge Wilson; brother-in-law Charles Spurlock (Middlesboro, KY).

Hubert was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, a member of the Shawanee Masonic Lodge #546, he loved listening to bluegrass music, watching sci-fi shows, MacGyvering anything that needed fixing, fishing, and being outdoors with his family. Hubert was known to always have a smile on his face and be the type of guy who would go out of his way to do anything for you. He was a friend to everyone and an inspiration to many- he will be missed!!

He is survived by his loving wife Ginger and his two sons Jeffrey (Jeannie) Garland of Galax, VA and Kevin Garland of Minneapolis, MN; his two grandchildren Megan and Andy; his three brothers Larry (Richmond, KY), Don (Bear, DE), and Roger (Harrogate, TN); his loving mother-in-law Marjorie Rains; his sister in-laws Evelyn Spurlock, Charlesita Pursifull, Carolyn Rains, Mary Ann Rains, and Jackie Hoskins (Middlesboro, KY); a host of nieces and nephews, and his two grand-dogs Bella and Hazel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Middlesboro, Kentucky with inurnment to take place at Greenhills Cemetery in Middlesboro, KY.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Johnson City Regional Cancer Center for all the wonderful care given to Mr. Garland.
