On the night before the release of the highly-anticipated Dragon Ball FighterZ, the voice actors behind Goku and Vegeta faced off in a series of matches to prove which character is better. In what was being called the #SuperSaiyanShowdown on Twitter, Vegeta defeated Goku in an epic showdown, after days of trash-talking between the two voice actors.

Announced in June, Bandai Namco's Dragon Ball FighterZ utilizes the gameplay mechanics of the early installments of the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise. Using a 3 vs. 3 tag system, players can face off using teams of their favorite characters while engaging in an all-new story created specifically for the game. The game features a roster of 23 characters from the anime, plus one original character, Android 21. Players can also use newer characters like Beerus, Hit, and Goku Black. The Super Saiyan Blue forms for Vegeta and Goku are also available as playable characters.

Earlier this month, Christopher Sabat, the voice of Vegeta, challenged Goku's voice actor, Sean Schemmel, to a match in Dragon Ball FighterZ. The two then began trash-talking each other over which character is better for days. In preparation for the match, both actors received training from professional gamers to ensure their win. Sabat and Schemmel finally faced off last night at an event at the Esports Arena in California.

Vegeta fans rejoiced as Sabat proved victorious, defeating Schemmel soundly in several matches. After Sabat's victory was secured, he allowed Schemmel to win the final round. Fans watching the video can listen as the voices of Goku and Vegeta taunt each other during the battles.

It all started when Sabat and Schemmel had a "Twitter spat" over Goku and Vegeta, which resulted in Sabat issuing a dramatic video challenge to Schemmel, asking that they settle their differences in FighterZ. Schemmel accepted, and Funimation, the company that handled the English dubbing for the anime, announced that they would host the match. In the days that followed, Schemmel and Sabat mocked each other's characters and taunted one another on Twitter.

Now that it's over, it appears that Sabat has had the last laugh. However, despite his defeat, Schemmel is already talking about a rematch. Hopefully for Goku fans, Schemmel will get a chance to redeem the hero at a later date. Until then, Vegeta fans will be talking about this one for a while.
