Obituary: Edward "Pete" Eugene Long

Edward “Pete” Eugene Long, 82, of Summerville, husband of Mary Agnes Long lost his battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 28, 2012.

Pete was born on July 15, 1930 in Winifrede, West Virginia, the son of the late Edward Joseph Long and the late Artie Compton Long. Pete was a graduate of Charleston West Virginia High School, Class of 1949. He served six years in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Police during the Korean War. In 1958 he began his 38 year career in the aluminum industry working at Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, WV from 1958 to 1970, National-Southwire Aluminum in Hawesville, KY from 1970 to 1980 and retired from Alumax of Goose Creek, SC 1980 to 1996. He was a church member of Fellowship of Oakbrook and a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 55 years, Mary Agnes Long are: Three Sons: Gene Long (Terry) of Winston-Salem, NC, Steve Long, Sr. (Debbie) of Summerville, SC and Eddie Long (Sherry) of Ladson, SC; Nine Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren; One Sister: Mary Sue Kowalinski (Ed) of Avon, Ohio; Sister In Law: Joanne Yokley of Louisville, KY. He is predeceased by one brother and two sisters: John Henry Long, Billie Ruth Hair and JoAnn Lathy.
