Adria Anna Wright

Adria Anna Wright, age 94, of Bridgton, Maine (formerly of St. Johnsbury, Vermont) died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 at Bridgton Hospital. Adria was born in Lee, Maine on Dec. 15, 1923, to the late Ardie & Mae Worster. In childhood, the family moved to Monroe, New Hampshire.

Adria graduated from McIndoes Academy in 1942 where she excelled both in her studies and as a basketball player. She married Kenneth L. Wright Sr. in 1942. Adria had the honor of being General Electric’s first woman to attend trade school to learn the milling machine, drill press and lathe at General Electric in Connecticut during World War II. She then studied nursing and was an LPN at the St. Johnsbury, Brightlook, and NRVH hospitals retiring in 1988. She had a passion for nursing and taking care of people. She was a member of the Seventh- day Adventist Church and held many offices.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wright Sr.; daughters, Carol Ann Stuart (Cote), Barbara Jean Gervais brothers, Eugene and Ardie Wooster; sisters, Edith Burgess, Lillian Karker, Geneva Kalivas, Stella Lapete, Lucille Riley, and Olive Cheney. She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Kenneth Jr. (Ginger) of Grand Blanc, Mi. and Pastor Richard (Trudy) of Poland Maine; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Adria’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 21 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Southard St. St Johnsbury, Vt. Pastor Richard Wright officiating. A private burial will take place at the North Monroe Cemetery in New Hampshire.
