The Beaverton Geographic Information Services (GIS), in conjunction with Portland Area Water/ Wastewater Users Group, will host a free Portland area Asset Management Day on Thursday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Round Executive Suites (12725 SW Millikan Way, Beaverton, OR 97005). Asset management is how the city monitors and maintains its roads, water and sewer lines, and other infrastructure in the city.
“The city has more than $1.7 billion in assets,” said Juston Manville, Beaverton’s GIS manager. “Achieving predictive maintenance of these assets saves the citizens of Beaverton money while at the same time providing a higher level of service.”
The tentative schedule and topics covered include:
• 9-10 a.m. GeoEngineers—What is Asset Management
• 10-11 a.m. HDR Inc—Direct ROI for Asset Management
• 11 a.m.-noon Azteca Systems | Cityworks—Local Government Templates
• Noon-1 p.m. Lunch break (free meal provided by Azteca Systems | Cityworks)
• 1-2 p.m. Stantec—Pavement Management
• 2-3 p.m. Clean Water Services—Proposed Storm and Sewer Data Models
Guests will learn about utilities and how the city strives to predict when maintenance needs to performed as well as budgeting.
“We continue to pay close attention to our core services,” said Mayor Denny Doyle. “Our residents care about filling pot holes and so do we. We maintain our streets, our water and sewer lines—and our overall infrastructure. These are our most important assets and this technology helps us responsibly maintain them.”
