‘Jersey Shore’ star Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino sentenced to 8 months in prison for tax evasion

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-- Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, made famous by MTV’s “Jersey Shore” and “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation," appeared in New Jersey federal court on Friday and was sentenced to eight months in prison,

After he serves jail time, TMZ reports the New Springville native will be on two years of supervised release. Marc Sorrentino, Mike’s brother who also showed up to New Jersey court on Friday, was sentenced to two years in prison along with a $75,000 fine. He has 30 days to come up with the money.

Sorrentino’s rep tells Cosmopolitan “Mike accepts the courts decision and looks forward to marrying his college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce and moving forward together after serving his sentence. He anticipates to come back stronger as an individual and couple in the same healthy mind set that he has had for the last 3 years. He and Lauren are both so thankful for everyones support and prayers!”

Sorrentino, 36, was indicted of filing false income tax returns on $8.9 million in income from 2011-2012 in 2014.

Mike and Marc Sorrentino, his bother, were both released on $250,000 bond with their lawyers declaring innocence. The pair were indicted on additional charges including tax evasion and falsifying records in April 2017. In January 2018, Sorrentino pleaded guilty to one count of aiding in the preparation of a false and fraudulent tax return.

To support their MTV co-star, the cast of “Jersey Shore” waited outside the New Jersey court in Newark to welcome Sorrentino with hugs before the hearing. Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Angelina Pivarnick, Deena Nicole Cortese and Vinny Guadagnino wore all black as they saw Sorrentino off.
