Hard Rock Cafe Singapore to send a burger on ‘tour’ to the region

SINGAPORE — Come Friday (May 13), a local culinary creation will begin a nine-day journey to six cities in the neighbouring countries. No, it’s not Katong laksa, chilli crab or chicken rice: It’s the Satay Burger.

SINGAPORE — Come Friday (May 13), a local culinary creation will begin a nine-day journey to six cities in the neighbouring countries. No, it’s not Katong laksa, chilli crab or chicken rice: It’s the Satay Burger.

Made by Hard Rock Cafe Singapore as part of its celebrations to mark its 25th anniversary, the Satay Burger will be part of the Asian edition of the World Burger Tour, which is part of the global intiative by Hard Rock Cafe to feature what they have dubbed the Local Legendary Burger offerings created by the Hard Rock chefs from all over the world.

Singapore’s Satay Burger features a certified Angus beef patty topped with cucumber slices, red onions, Asian peanut sauce and chopped peanuts. More than 160 local burgers were evaluated by Hard Rock’s culinary team, with fan favourites selected to headline the World Burger Tour menus.

Cristina Lopes, Corporate Regional Sales & Marketing Manager, Hard Rock Cafe Singapore, said the Satay Burger was specially created for the World Burger Tour. “Satay is a dish that’s reminiscent of Singapore, and is one of the many local favourites here,” she said. “The Satay Burger was created to let our guests truly experience the local flavours of Singapore while still enjoying the global standards of Hard Rock’s iconic burgers.”

The South-east Asian leg of the tour will see a World Burger Truck, decked in visuals of the burgers, wending its way to Hard Rock outlets in the region, kicking off with a street party outside Hard Rock Cafe Singapore on Cuscaden Road from 4pm.

It will then go to Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Bangkok and Pattaya before heading back to Hard Rock Cafe Sentosa on May 22. A group of Harley Davidson bikers from Singapore will accompany the truck to KL.

“This is also the first time in the world where World Burger Tour features a truck that crosses borders to different countries,” said Lopes. “We decided to send the World Burger Truck off with a big bang. We have a history of collaborating with the Harley Davidson bikers, so it was only natural that we included them again in our celebrations.”

Other burgers available on this tour vary from city to city. For instance, the Tropical Burger (from Key West Florida), a goat cheese burger, with grilled pineapple, jalapeno mango salsa, bacon and arugula on a brioche bun, will be served on Friday; while in Kuala Lumpur, the Hollywood Burger (from Hollywood, of course), featuring brie cheese, caramelised shallots, garlic aioli, fresh arugula and tomato, will be served.

However, the Satay Burger, the Big Italy Burger from New York (topped with melted Mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, pizza sauce and sauteed mushrooms); the Giadiniera Deli Burger from Chicago (topped with roast beef, melted provolone cheese, giardiniera peppers and Sriracha mayonnaise); and the Golden Gate Burger from San Francisco (topped with sliced salami, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, pickles and thousand island dressing served on a sourdough bread) will be offered at Hard Rock Cafe Sentosa from June 1 to 30.
