Corporation sanitation worker survives freak accident

KOCHI: In a freak accident a corporation sanitation worker nearly got his face and jaws crushed after he got jammed between the hydraulic doors of waste collection tipper lorry here on Tuesday. Murugan, 40, the corporation sanitation worker from Karimadom colony was first rushed to General hospital from where he was referred to Medical college. He has suffered a fracture in his jaw and is under observation.
The accident occured near Vanchiyoor on Tuesday morning.Murugan along with other workers had completed cleaning on MG road and moved to Vanchiyoor. The cleaning was completed and waste was dumped in the tipper. Murugan got inside the vehicle and asked the driver to shut the door, however he popped his head out talking to someone and got his face caught between the hydraulic doors. The other workers soon alerted the driver and Murugan was rushed to General hospital.
