'A Newton Noel' Dazzles In Pylesville

A 28-foot-tall snowflake wall, giant star of Bethlehem, mega trees and nativity scene are among the attractions of this Harford County home.

PYLESVILLE, MD — About 37,500 lights and a 7-foot-tall rooftop star of Bethlehem are just a couple of the elements that make this house in Harford County a destination. The Newton family, which puts together the stunning light show, says it is in its 7th year creating the holiday attraction, known as "A Newton Noel."

Their house on Telegraph Road in Pylesville features a snowflake wall that spans 28 feet and showcases more than a dozen varieties of multicolored flakes.

There is also an 18-foot-tall "megatree" with more than 3,000 lights as well as an 8-foot nativity scene.

New additions this year include the following, according to the Newtons:

  • Christmas balls, from 2 to 4 feet in diameter
  • 8-foot-tall mini megatrees

There are 150 dedicated amps and 1.5 miles of extension cords for the show, which is set to music that loops about every 30 minutes. Drivers should tune their radio stations to 107.1 FM to follow along.

"A Newton Noel" kicked off on Dec. 1, and it will run through New Year's Eve for the 2018 season.

Hours are 6-9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 6-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Those who would like to give back can support causes near to the Newtons' hearts. Look for the large sign with giant candy canes by the driveway; people can drop monetary donations in a box next to a fireman's boot. Money will be split among the Norrisville United Methodist Church, Norrisville Volunteer Fire Company and Norrisville Elementary School, according to Erin Newton.

The show in Harford County has a Facebook page: Newton Noel: A Christmas Light Show.

Go see the display at 2111 Telegraph Rd, Pylesville, MD 21132.
