Police arrested three teens and a man on suspicion of breaking into a Pasadena home Wednesday and stealing jewelry worth about $23,000. Officers recovered most of the jewelry.

Field Elementary School was placed on lockdown for about two hours while officers searched for the suspects, Pasadena Police Lt. Pete Hettema said. One officer suffered minor injuries but Hettema didn’t have details on how the officer was hurt.

A neighbor called police around 10:40 a.m. after seeing several people get out of a black Mercedes and jump the fence of a home in the 3300 block of Shadow Grove Road, Hettema said.

Officers who responded to the call found the car. Hettema said the driver sped off, narrowly missing a police car carrying a K9 unit. The Mercedes crashed a couple of blocks away. The driver abandoned the car and headed to nearby yards.

Police closed off streets by the house that was burglarized. A second containment was set up around the crash scene.

Hettema said officers found three suspects and some had the stolen jewelry.

Shortly after police concluded the search around the crash scene, a resident flagged down an officer and said someone ran into a property on Sierra Madre Boulevard, Hettema said. Officers found the fourth suspect.

Hettema said 18-year-old Anthony Santamaria, a 17-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of residential burglary. The four suspects are from Los Angeles.
