Vermont man accused of trying to solicit underage NH girl for sex
A Vermont man is facing charges in New Hampshire after police said he tried to solicit an underage girl for sex.
Daren Arsenault, 51, of Williamstown, Vermont, was arrested Tuesday in Vermont on a warrant from New Hampshire.
The arrest came after a two-month investigation by state police, the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Hinsdale police.
Arsenault is charged with certain uses of computer services prohibited.
State police said he tried to exploit a teenager from Cheshire County for sex.
According to an affadavit from Vermont, Arsenault used Facebook Messenger to contact the girl in October.
He is awaiting extradition to New Hampshire to face those charges.
He is also facing seven charges in Vermont, accused of luring a runaway teen he met on Facebook. Court documents said the teen was found in his car.
She told investigators that Arsenault gave her alcohol and touched her inappropriately.
Court documents also revealed that a complaint was filed over the summer involving another alleged victim in Vermont. That victim is just 10 years old.
He is being held in Vermont on $75,000 cash bail.
