Minister for Civil Supplies P. Pulla Rao has said the government will clamp down on any one selling fake seed and fertilizers and such companies will also be blacklisted.

Speaking at the end of a discussion on agriculture at the general body meeting of the Zilla Parishad here on Tuesday, Mr. Pulla Rao said the Department of Agriculture would take a tough stand against the traders who were bent on exploiting the needs of the farmers at a time the agricultural season started.

The Minister said instructions had been issued to undertake repair works and construct compound walls in all schools. Funds for undertaking repairs to the school building could be drawn from the panchayat, he said. Later, Minister for Social Welfare N. Ananda Babu reviewed the implementation of the welfare schemes in the district.

Collector K. Sasidhar said banks had been instructed to provide loans to the tenant farmers, as many of them were forced to depend on moneylenders to begin agricultural operations and those resorting to malpractice would be booked.
