NH Primary Source: Raymond Democrats plan to hear from Yang, Delaney, Ojeda in coming months
CANDIDATE CONVERSATIONS. The local Democratic committee in the town of Raymond is getting actively involved in scheduling presidential candidates to speak with activists in western Rockingham County.Nate Bernitz, committee chair, told New Hampshire Primary Source this week that the committee has confirmed appearances by entrepreneur Andrew Yang on Feb. 5 and former U.S. Rep. John Delaney on March 5.He also disclosed that Richard Ojeda, a former state senator from West Virginia who is now running for president, is scheduled to appear before the Raymond Democrats on April 2.Ojeda, known as an outspoken moderate and champion of teachers, has said he voted for Donald Trump in 2016 -- and later regretted it. He filed papers for a presidential candidacy almost immediately after losing a bid for the U.S. House from West Virginia’s 3rd Congressional District in November.Bernitz said that all three of the candidate conversations will be held at the Tucker Lodge No. 99 in Raymond.“Since Raymond is a small conservative town, it’s important that we bring in some of the lower profile candidates and give them a voice,” Bernitz said. “We also are trying to have towns in the western part of Rockingham County, which are sometimes written off by Democrats, be on the map. We want folks to come here.”
