Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have some exciting news. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly expecting their first child, Kensington Palace announced in a statement on Monday (Oct. 15).
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the statement reads.
The announcement comes shortly after the couple kickstarted a 16-day tour through Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand. Many speculated the Duchess was attempting to disguise physical signs of a pregnancy, as she’s been seen carrying a purple binder close to her stomach region.
The couple’s bundle of joy will be seventh in line to the British throne. Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Catherine recently gave birth to Prince Louis in Apr. 2018. Louis is the couple’s third child after Princess Charlotte and Prince George.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot at England’s Windsor Castle in May 2018. Celebrity guests such as Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams were present at the royal event.
Prince Harry has previously spoken briefly about the couple’s wish to have a child soon. “Hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future,” he told BBC News in Nov. 2017, after their engagement.
