Woman struck, killed in Crestview still unidentified

CRESTVIEW — Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian Wednesday night on Ferdon Boulevard at Walmart Road.

According to a release from the Crestview Police Department, 22-year-old Allen Grube was driving his pickup north on Ferdon about 10:10 p.m. when he entered the intersection on a green light and struck a woman who was crossing the busy road against the crossing light.

As of mid-Thursday afternoon, police had not been able to determine her identity. She is black and may be in her 50s, according to the Police Department.

The woman was taken by Okaloosa County EMS to North Okaloosa Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m., according to police.

The press release said the woman was in the road improperly and was inattentive to oncoming traffic.

The accident is under investigation and no charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon.
