The remains of a Savoonga man, reported missing on Wednesday evening, were discovered Thursday evening by ground search crews.

56-year-old Harlan Kingeekuk was first reported missing around 5:45 Wednesday evening by a Savoonga Village Police Officer, who reported Kingeekuk to be four days overdue.

Kingeekuk was traveling alone by four-wheeler to a dig site on Saint Lawrence Island when his ATV became stuck on a trail. It was discovered abandoned by volunteer searchers Wednesday evening.

Around 5:45 Thursday evening, ground crews located Kingeekuk's body. Troopers say it appears Kingeekuk suffered from hypothermia.

His body is being sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage for autopsy. No foul play is suspected.
