Watch the hilarious reactions of people on the street as Jimmy Kimmel fools them into thinking Judge Judy has been appointed to Supreme Court

Jimmy Kimmel's 'Lie Witnness News' tested the reaction of people on the street to the staggeringly unlikely news that Judge Judy Sheindlin of daytime television fame is to be appointed to the United States Supreme Court by President Obama.

Obviously this has not occurred, but late night host Kimmel simply wanted to test the theory that when people hear words such as 'president obama' and 'supreme court' they will form an opinion whether they have an opinion or not.

Having previously trained his sights on hipsters at the Coachella Music Festival, Kimmel's hilarious skit found a succession of real life people to offer their thoughts on what must surely be one of the least likely political appointments in history.

Kimmel's reporter asks a man who proudly introduces himself as Brian from Michigan what he thinks of the new addition to the Supreme Court.

Responding with what seems a strong knowledge of the United States judicial branch of government, Brian says about President Obama's choice, 'it's controversial but he has to do the best he can with the best we have.'

Finding a couple to opine on the incredulous news of Judge Judy's appointment, the man says, 'I think it is a publicity stunt, but I am not sure why because he already has the approval ratings he needs and he is not up for re-election.'

One man though gives Kimmel's team the answer they have been waiting for, confirming that Judge Judy taking up a position as one of the nine justices is going to be good for the country, because she is a 'gangsta'.

However, despite the strength of his convictions, the reporter then asks him whether Judy would start to affect judgements on famous cases such as 'Kramer vs Kramer', the famous Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep film about child custody.

The 'Lie Witness News' segment has become extremely popular on Jimmy Kimmel's show, replacing his previous attempts to good naturedly poke fun at children and their unique outlook on life.

In late April, the show aired a segment from the Coachella Music Festival to try and catch out some of the attendees by asking them about hip bands that are so obscure they don’t exist.

Kimmel’s reporter asks the desperate to be cool hipsters if they were looking forward to hearing a succession of bands, that with the exception of one, Two Door Cinema Club, don’t actually exist

When asked about ‘Dr. Schlomo and the GI Clinic,’ one girl gushed that she was excited to see them live as ‘they’re always amazing,’ while her friend also chimed in that she too was ‘really excited to see them live’ and predicted they would be a highlight of the festival.

A Valley girl is asked for her thoughts on a fictitious band called ‘Get the f*** out of my pool,’ who she deadpans that she not gonna miss and then talks about her excitement to see the 'Chelsea Clintons' because they 'give off good energy.'
