ABERDEEN, N.C. — A Moore County woman missing for more than two weeks is now the subject of a Silver Alert.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued the alert Friday afternoon for Amy Kesters Sands, 47, of Cameron, who was last seen Nov. 4 at a Walmart in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Deputy Police Chief Carl Colasacco said Sands had been in a some kind of scuffle and was taken to Moore County Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, where she was treated for some cuts.

"Somebody stated that she was being chased," Colasacco said. "We weren't able to determine if she was being chased or not."

Once she was released, Colasacco said, she got a ride from someone back to the store, where she went in and bought a set of contacts.

Her burgundy Jeep Cherokee was found a week later, Nov. 11, parked at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant about a mile from the Walmart.

"There were some belongings that were in the vehicle, like she may be moving," Colasacco said.

At this point, police don't suspect foul play in Sands' disappearance, but they are asking anyone with information that could help them find her to call 910-947-2911.

Sands is white, stands 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds. She has shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes. She wears a turquoise ring on the left side of her lip.
