Nicholas Sparks‘ best-selling novels have been adapted into some of the most popular romance films in recent years, from “The Notebook,” to “Dear John” and “A Walk to Remember.”
Now, the decorated scribe is heading to the small screen for the first time, as Lifetime greenlights telepic “Deliverance Creek.”
From Sparks’ shingle in association with Warner Horizon TV, “Deliverance Creek” is a two-hour period film that will serve as a backdoor pilot for an hourlong drama.
Pic takes place at the end of the Civil War. Belle Barlow is faced with uncertainty as she attempts to defend her family’s land by any means, and a corrupt bank that runs her town pushes Belle to become an outlaw.
Melissa Carter serves as writer and exec producer on the project. Sparks is exec producing alongside his lit agent Theresa Park, with Elise Henderson co-executive producing.
Sparks recently produced “Safe Haven,” a feature film starring Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel that was based on a novel he penned. Sparks has TV projects in development at TNT and ABC Family, as well.
