Maxine Roberts Baker

Maxine Roberts Baker, 83 of Dickson, died on March 8, 2014. A funeral service for Mrs. Baker was held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Franklin officiating. Burial followed in the McElhiney Cemetery.

For those desiring, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

Mrs. Maxine Baker was born on December 31, 1930. She was a daughter of the late Jim Roberts and the late Clara McElhiney Roberts. She retired from Goodlark Hospital with 32 years of service as a surgical nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace J. Baker; 2 Sons, Tony Lee Baker, and Ronnie W. Baker; grandchild, Carley Devin Grove.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina Kimbro of Dickson; 2 Sons, Billy O. Williams and his wife, Cyndee of Dickson, and Danny J. Williams and his wife, Terri of Dickson; 7 Grandchildren, Ian Baker, Jeremy Baker, Sarah Kimbro, Laura Blake Burns, Seth O. Williams, Leah Peeler, Becca Pass; 11 Great Grandchildren.

Eddie James ‘JJ’ Baucom III

A visitation service for Eddie James “JJ” Baucom III, 39 of Charlotte, will be from 9-3 on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Spann Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Baucom and Bro. Larry Baucom officiating. Interment: Dickson County Memorial Gardens.

Vivienne Frances Dod Griffin

Memorial services for Vivienne Frances Dod Griffin, age 93, of Dickson will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 from Calvary Episcopal Church in Cumberland Furnace with her grand-nephew, Pastor David W. Johnson officiating.

Survivors include four nieces, Terrill Johnson, Vivienne Akhdary, Libbie Tapscott Larson, Terry Sue Tapscott; three nephews, Pete Mallory, William Mallory, and Peter Tapscott; two step-daughters, Irene Kievenaar Bates and Cornelia Griffin.

Shirley Ann Coleman Williams Harber

Mrs. Shirley Ann Coleman Williams Harber, 79 of McEwen, and Rockledge, Fl., passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Mrs. Harber was born February 12, 1935, in Dayton, Ohio, to John Edgar, Sr. and Eva Estelle Gunn Coleman. She was married to Robert Lucas “Bob” Williams and William Arthur “Bill” Harber, Jr. Mrs. Harber was a retired bookkeeper for several CPA agencies. She was a member of McEwen First United Methodist, United Methodist Women, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She loved bowling, cooking, and sharing her goodies with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was adored by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Visitation with the family was Friday, March 7, 2014, from 12-9 p.m. at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen. Saturday visitation was at the McEwen First United Methodist Church from 11 a.m. until funeral service time at 2 p.m. Rev. Joan Hubbard and Rev. Jim Fields officiated the service at the church. Interment followed in the McEwen Cemetery in McEwen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: United Methodist Women, 146 Church St., McEwen, TN 37101.

Survivors include: 3 children Robert Daniel “Danny” Williams (Amanda), Dickson, Donna Gayle Browning (Dale), Bartlett, Tenn. Lisa Diann Baker, McEwen; 1 sister Ruth Mae Hill, McEwen; 7 grandchildren Christy Leigh Blaylock (Greg), Melissa Ann Andrews (William, Jr.), Holly Ann Browning, Amanda Kay Browning, Lauren Brooke Baker, Rebecca Danielle Williams, Grayson Cole Williams; 7 Great Grandchildren Mallory Grace, Malaney Faith, Noah Billy, and Makenley Hope Blaylock, Isaac kwamena Browning, Annalissa Dawn Browning, and Emma Grace Murphy; many loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by husbands Robert Lucas “Bob” Williams and William Arthur “Bill” Harber, Jr.; parents John and Eva Coleman; 6 siblings Mildred Shunk, John Coleman, Frank Allison Coleman, Helen Dillard, Francis “Fred” Coleman, and Don Coleman

Nora Evelyn (Baggett) Hodges

Nora Evelyn (Baggett) Hodges, 94, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 while at her daughter’s home.

She was born December 12, 1919 in Montgomery County, daughter to the late Walter and Mary (Castleberry) Baggett. Mrs. Hodges was a homemaker and former employee of Hodges Jewelers in Dickson. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and was active in the Women’s Society at the local and district levels for many years. She was a member of the Vanleer Eastern Star for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Clarence Farris Hodges; son Clarence Farris Hodges, Jr., four stepsons Bailey Hodges, William Bryan Hodges, Jimmy Hodges, and Tommy Hodges. She was also preceded in death by brothers Acie Baggett, Wade Baggett, Paul Baggett, Herschel Baggett, Ray Baggett and half-sister Sara (Maggie) Major.

Survivors include sister, Mary Nell Radgin of Trenton, Michigan, daughter, Barbara (Bill) McCurdy, granddaughters Dawne (Mike) Smith and Darla (Mike) Murphy, and great grandson Bryan Smith. She is also survived by step grandchildren Cheryl (Jim) Bogo, Daryl (Jan) Hodges, Dianne (Gaines) Ramsey, and Pam Scott, nine step great grandchildren, fourteen step great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bill McCurdy, Mike Smith, Mike Murphy, Bryan Smith, Daryl Hodges, and Jim Bogo.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Visitation services were held from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m. with the Reverends Melvin Brooks and Bob Niles officiating. Burial followed at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Fund, 6188 C.B. Hodges Rd., Cumberland Furnace, TN 37051.

James ‘Jimmy’ Hulsey, Sr.

James ‘Jimmy’ Hulsey, Sr., 61 of Ashland City, died on Thursday March 6, 2014 at his home. Jimmy was born Aug. 20, 1952 in Nashville to parents James C. Hulsey and Mary L. Jones. He is preceded in death by his step father Walton H. ‘Bumper’ Jones and son James Joseph ‘Bubba’ Hulsey, Jr. James is survived by his mother Mary Louise Jones; daughters Cindy Hulsey Bermudez, Nina Hulsey Lopez, brothers Larry L. (Big Cindy) Hulsey, David (Pam) Jones, Roger Jones, and four grandchildren Blake Hulsey, Salvador Bermudez, Jose’ Bermudez and Gabriel Gray Lopez.

Visitation for Jimmy Hulsey, Sr. was at Boyd Funeral Home, 101 Elizabeth St., Ashland City on Monday March 10 from 10-1pm. His funeral followed at 1 pm with burial at the EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View.

Billy Harold (Bill) Hunt

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Harold (Bill) Hunt, age 87 of Brentwood,Tn will be conducted Thursday afternoon, March 13, 2014 at 1 PM from the Chapel of the Woodbine Hickory Chapel in Nashville with Dr. Jim Hughes officiating and his nephew Art Hunt giving his eulogy.

Visitation will be Wednesday March 12, 2014 from 4-8 PM and on Thursday beginning at noon until time of service at Hickory Chapel.

Graveside services will be Thursday afternoon following the service at 3 PM at Dickson County Memorial Gardens. There will be Masonic Services Wednesday evening at 7 PM.

Those desiring Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, the Forrest Hills United Methodist Church, or to the Tiger Haven of Kingston Tn. Services under the direction of the Taylor Funeral Home.

Mr. Hunt died peacefully at home on Sunday March 9, 2014 with his family by his side. Born in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Arthur , Sr. and Myrtle Adams Hunt. He attended Austin Peay and University of Tennessee and received his B.S. in Business. In his early years he taught school in Montgomery County and later went to work with South Central Bell where he retired after 32 years of service. He proudly served his country during World War II. He was a longtime Methodist and was a member of the Forrest Hills United Methodist Church in Brentwood. Also a 32 degree mason where he was a member of the Corinthian Lodge # 414 in Nashville and was also a Scottish Rite Mason. Bill was a most gifted artist and expressed his talents with a brush on canvas. He was married to the former Geraldine (Gerry) Hunt.

A special thank you to Aretta Cornish for the care and love that she has given Gerry and Bill during his illness and death.

Survivors include His Wife of 61 years, Gerry Hunt, His Loyal four legged companion, Josh Hunt II, His Brother; Arthur Hunt, Jr. , His Sister in law; Sara Hunt, His Nieces, Mary Beth Hunt, Mary Joan Henderson, Barbara Briggs, Janie Schroder, Susan Hunt, His Nephews, Arthur Hunt III, Dan Hunt, Steve Hunt, Jerry Hunt, Tim Hunt, Pete Schmittou, Donnie Schmittou, Tommy Schmittou and Ronnie Schmittou. Several Great Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by Three Brothers and One Sister.

Agin Rowencak

Funeral mass for Agin Rowencak, 88 of Fairview, formerly of Dickson, is 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 from St. Christopher’s Church with Father Mathew Perumpally officiating. Interment is in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Nashville. Mr. Rowencak died Sunday at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville. Rosary is at 4 p.m. Wednesday with visitation continuing until 8 p.m. Pallbearers were sons, Wolodymyr Rowenczak and John Rowenczak; his daughter, Julie (Gary) Leturmy; grandsons, Matthew and Scott Rowenczak, and Garrett Leturmy; and granddaughter, Maya Rowencak.

Born July 27, 1925 in Ukraine, Mr. Rowencak suffered through WWII, and came to the United States with a young wife and son and with only a suitcase. He worked until he was 80 years old as a farmer, caretaker of St. Mary’s Orphanage, Diplomat Farms, at Scovill Schrader, and landscaping. He was preceded in death by Katherine, his wife of 57 years. So saddened by her loss, only Church and friends “kept him alive.”

Betty M. Spann

Betty M. Spann, 88 of Charlotte, died Saturday March 8, 2014 at NHC. Visitation was from 3-8 on Monday and 9-10 on Tuesday at the Spann Funeral Home. She was a member of the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. Funeral services for Mrs. Betty M. Spann were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday March 11, 2014 at the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church with Rev. Melvin Brooks and Bro. Robert Cullom officiating. Interment is in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.

Survivors include 1 son Mike Spann (Barbara) of Charlotte; 1 daughter, Brenda Zbozien of Dickson; special niece

Tommy W. Tidwell

Tommy W. Tidwell, 82 of Charlotte died: Sunday, March 9, 2014 at NHC. Mr. Tommy was known for his love of fishing and cooking fish and hushpuppies. He was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church and Founder of the Pond Christian Men’s Club.

Funeral Services for Mr. Tommy Tidwell will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Picard officiating. Interment: St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation is 11-1 on Wednesday at Spann Funeral Home.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Karen Choate (Jackie) of Dickson, Sherri Pope (David) of Linden; grandchildren
