Two men have died in an apparent drowning in northern Saskatchewan.

RCMP say the two men, ages 49 and 45, had left the community of Pinehouse, about 10 kilometres south of the lake, on an ATV to go hunting and fishing on April 26.

The men were not reported missing because it wasn’t uncommon for them to be gone for long periods of time, Mounties said.

On Monday, RCMP received a call from a local fisherman who had discovered the body of one of the men in Pinehouse Lake, about 350 kilometres north of Prince Albert.

The fisherman took police to the location by boat, where the body of the second man was found nearby in the water.

The ATV has not been found and is believed to be in the lake.

Autopsies are scheduled for this week in Saskatoon, but police say the deaths do not appear to be suspicious.

The families of the men have been notified and they have asked that the names not be released at this time.
