Prediction: Rams fall to Tampa Bay

The St. Louis Rams have beaten the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in each of coach Jeff Fisher's first two seasons in St. Louis, including a dominant defensive performance in 2013 that included seven sacks.

I expect things to be a little bit different this time around. Whether directly or indirectly because of the Rams' pass rush in last year's meeting, the Bucs went out and spent big money and made a trade to add three new starters on the offensive line and a new quarterback in Josh McCown. That group is still a work in progress for Tampa Bay but the Bucs could follow the Vikings' blueprint and revert to the short passing game.

In addition, the forecast for Sunday calls for a high of 88 degrees with humidity reaching 74 percent. Fisher lamented the mild St. Louis summer during training camp (the average temperature in August was 80.3 degrees) while pointing to this game. That shouldn't affect the Rams early but it might come the fourth quarter.

The Rams aren't as bad as they played last week against Minnesota and Fisher has a knack for getting his team to rally when adversity hits but the Bucs aren't as bad as they looked for most of their Week 1 game, either.

My prediction: Buccaneers 20, Rams 13
