‘Remember Me’ reviews: First Robert Pattinson non-‘Twilight’ star vehicle fails to please U.S. critics + offends some

Ramon Novarro Beyond Paradise

The romantic melodrama Remember Me, starring Robert Pattinson in his first post-Twilight human role, has been greeted by mixed-to-negative reviews.

Directed by Allen Coulter (Hollywoodland, the TV series Damages) from a screenplay by first-timer Will Fetters (with some rewriting by Jenny Lumet), Remember Me stars Pattinson (who also received “executive producer” credit) as a chain-smoking, James Dean-type rebel enmeshed in a troubled relationship with his wealthy father (Pierce Brosnan). Pattinson’s character later meets a young woman (Emilie de Ravin) with whom he falls in love; problems ensue with the woman’s cop father (Chris Cooper).

These father conflicts are a couple of the obstacles that plague the Remember Me antihero’s emotional road all the way to a twist ending of sorts – Roger Ebert compared it to having a refrigerator falling on a character’s head. The conclusion hat has left some moved and others appalled.

Modest domestic box office debut expected

Distributor Summit Entertainment – which also handles the Twilight movies – is expecting that Remember Me will gross between $8 and $10 million over the weekend in the U.S. and Canada. That’s a very modest range; unless, that is, Robert Pattinson’s fan base rises up to the occasion. (Update: They didn’t.)

Besides Pattinson, Pierce Brosnan, Emilie de Ravin, and Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Chris Cooper (Adaptation, 2002), the Remember Me cast features:

Ruby Jerins. Peyton List. Gregory Jbara. Moisés Acevedo. Kevin P. McCarthy.

William Cote. Morgan Turner. Justin Grace. William H. Burns. Christopher Clawson.

Richard Burton and Sybil Williams’ daughter Kate Burton.

Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee Lena Olin (Enemies: A Love Story, 1989).

Robert Pattinson movies

Robert Pattinson movies include Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight, with Kristen Stewart, and its two sequels, Chris Weitz’s New Moon and David Slade’s upcoming Eclipse, both with Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

Also of note, Pattinson played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, starring Daniel Radcliffe, and, gasp!, a gay Salvador Dali in Paul Morrison’s Little Ashes.

Pattinson is currently filming Bel Ami in Europe.

‘Remember Me’ reviews: Does the movie ‘cheat’?

Below is a long list of Remember Me reviews and Robert Pattinson appraisals.

“To call Remember Me a four-hankie weeper does not begin to describe it, and its climax almost pulls us out of the movie by incorporating a real-life event into a story that had been, until then, built purely on fiction. But Coulter wants to explore the act of mourning as a theme, and how death sometimes reminds us that every minute of life should be savored. On that level, Remember Me certainly succeeds.” Rene Rodriguez in the Miami Herald.

“You can’t exactly say the movie cheats. … But come on. This isn’t the plot for a love story, it’s the plot for a Greek tragedy. It may be true, as King Lear tells us, that as flies to wanton boys are we to th’ gods. But we don’t want to think ourselves as flies, or see fly love stories. Bring on the eagles. The fact is, Remember Me is a well-made movie. I cared about the characters. I felt for them. Liberate them from the plot’s destiny, which is an anvil around their necks, and you might have something.” Roger Ebert in the Chicago Sun-Times.

Remember Me is not a bad film. I’m going to stick my neck out and call it a good one – a small, dense chamber study of unhappy people looking for hope in the darkness, often literally.” Amy Biancolli in the San Francisco Chronicle.

“Long before the big reveal ending, one begins to feel Remember Me is romanticizing – even fetishizing – tragedy. There’s a pretentious reveling in emotional scars and painful loss.” Jake Coyle, who also praises the film’s “boldness” in The Associated Press.

“… [T]he movie contains a plot twist so stunning, yet so stunningly obvious, that it functions like a kind of ticking time bomb in the corner of the screen. After the first hint of what’s coming – which crops up less than 10 minutes into the movie and then doesn’t let up – the foreshadowing becomes so distracting that, by the time the darn thing goes off, there’s only a sense of relief.” Michael O’Sullivan in the Washington Post.

“A grave romantic drama with grandiose thematic intentions, [Remember Me] delivers some moving and affecting moments amid a preponderance of scenes of frequently annoying people behaving badly.” Todd McCarthy – who has just gotten laid off from – Variety and who refers to Emilie de Ravin as a cross “between Julie Christie and Samantha Morton.”

“Solid romantic dramas are precious these days. … So it is that despite the middling reviews and unnecessarily cult-like Robert Pattinson fandom, Remember Me, directed by the very capable Allen Coulter (Hollywoodland), is a simple, well-made love story about two young, tortured souls and the families that torture them.” Dan Mecca at The Film Stage.

“Family tragedy, cruel twists of fate, and wild gesticulations from Pattinson, de Ravin, Brosnan, and, as Ally’s father, Chris Cooper, fuse into a turbulent storm of angst. … Pattinson’s various fan contingents should eat it up, and if you don’t like the fact that his Tyler dude is pulling on those cigarettes, he promises he’s going to quit.” Steven Rea at the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“A smart, engaging drama about young love flourishing amid sadness and loss. The story ends on Sept. 11, 2001, in New York, which, depending on your point of view, further underscores the sense of loss implicit in the movie’s title or is an unnecessary dramatic ploy to end the film with a devastating twist of fate that immediately connects with every audience member.” Kirk Honeycutt in The Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s hard to know what the director Allen Coulter could have done to improve Will Fetters’ absurdly contrived, yakky script about love and loss, largely set in the summer of 2001. But Mr. Coulter doesn’t help matters by infusing the movie with grave self-importance. Everything comes weighted in significance …” Manohla Dargis in the New York Times.

“Teen audiences, particularly female, are likely to fall headlong into the dour romantic drama Remember Me because Robert Pattinson and his fwoopy hair, taking a break from the Twilight franchise, are both in it. And when you’re a teen, certainly when I was a teen, confusing banality with profundity was practically a law. … We know what’s coming and we feel badly … because we know so much more than the lovers do. From Here to Eternity had Pearl Harbor; Titanic had the iceberg; and Remember Me has a story taking place largely in New York City in the first half of 2001.” Michael Phillips, via the Baltimore Sun.

“As a shameless contraption of ridiculously sad things befalling attractive people, the engorged romantic tragedy Remember Me stands tall between those towering monuments to teen-oriented cinematic misery, Love Story and Twilight.” Lisa Schwarzbaum at EW.com.

“The end is so controversial, a number of blogs … gave every detail of it away. … The movie is poised to be one of the biggest tear-jerkers to come out of Hollywood since Titanic.” Ramin Setoodeh’s commentary in Newsweek, which features the heading, “Does Remember Me exploit a national tragedy?”

Remember Me is a movie with an urgent message. The message is: Please consider seeing another movie. Up until the very end, when it takes a plot turn so contemptible you feel like spitting at the screen, the picture is a meandering glum-love exercise that never seems to be going anywhere. Its only goal is to make it to that dreadful wrap-up, which it hopes to pass off as tragic irony. It’s a movie with no shame, or much of anything else.” Kurt Loder at MTV.com.

“There’s an insult-to-injury quality to a plain bad movie with a ‘seize the day’ message (Remember Me‘s tagline: ‘Live in the Moments’), which heckles you with all the other things you should or could be doing while you’re marking time waiting on the credits, wondering if the movie will ever end. Well, it does – oh, mama, does it ever, with a crazy long bomb heave toward epochal significance. (Far be it from me to spoil the surprise; let’s just say Robert Pattinson dies in 9/11.)” Nick Pinkerton in the LA Weekly.

Robert Pattinson reviews: Not necessarily flattering James Dean comparisons

Robert Pattinson himself has earned mixed reviews for his performance as the rebellious Tyler Hawkins in Remember Me.

A number of reviewers compared his Tyler to James Dean’s rebels in Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden, and Giant – though not necessarily in a positive manner.

“The young actor has an unmistakable screen presence. However in Remember Me, he pours it on thickly and self-consciously. With low eyes, sleeves rolled up just so and cigarette drooping artfully from his mouth, Tyler (like Edward Cullen) is a reluctant romantic. He quotes Gandhi in voiceover, makes love to Sigur Ros and (understandably) can’t be moved to laughter by American Pie 2.” Jake Coyle in The Associated Press.

“As in Twilight, Pattinson evokes the fancy-class man using the combined resources of dark glowers, milky gazes, and fabulously mussed-up hair. … Unfortunately, the film’s alienated rich kid is perilously close, in intense disgruntlement and plasma-deficient pallor, to that of alienated vampire Edward Cullen. And the overheated woes dreamed up by first-time screenwriter Will Fetters, directed by HBO veteran Allen Coulter, don’t allow the actor room to demonstrate much range as Tyler slouches around on a diet of cigarettes and beer.” Lisa Schwarzbaum at EW.com.

“Robert Pattinson is excellent as the brooding and wounded Tyler Hawkins. At his worst Mr. Pattinson is a James Dean caricature, but as the film progresses he gets more comfortable, and we’re left with a realistic guy we can pull for as the culmination sweeps in.” Laremy Legel at Film.com.

Remember Me is sensitively directed by Allen Coulter (who last did the under-appreciated Hollywoodland) but it’s really a Pattinson project. (He also helped produce.) A smart one, too, building on his Twilight persona as the sensitive yet dangerous bad boy. It’s not a new movie character, of course – James Dean certainly did okay with it – but Pattinson smartly tweaks his own persona, dropping the Twilight neo-goth in favor of contemporary realism, playing Tyler as both moody and mischievous.” Stephen Whitty in the New Jersey Star-Ledger.

Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson seems to have found a better vehicle for his angst-ridden style of acting. Those who relish him as a lovesick bloodsucker will surely take issue, but until Remember Me, his best acting job was as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Pattinson was woefully miscast as Salvador Dali in last year’s Little Ashes, but playing a contemporary, brooding and lost young man in Remember Me shows that he has more range than is visible in his one-dimensional role as a sexy vampire.” Claudia Puig in USA Today.

“But Pattinson’s fussy, affected acting, his grab bag of screen mannerisms and a script that has him lurching between moony romantic and wild-eyed psychotic do nothing to suggest dude has a prayer of a fangless career.” Roger Moore in the Orlando Sentinel.

“Pattinson has definitely figured out how to look the part, wearing ‘brooding’ like a James Dean leather jacket, and director Allen Coulter truly does bet the bank on it … What the actor hasn’t yet found is a way past those soulful eyes into the soul itself. If he does, Pattinson could have the makings of a brilliant career, something more than the hot streak he’s got going as the ‘it’ guy of the moment.” Betsy Sharkey in the Los Angeles Times.

“In attitude, if not aptitude, Robert Pattinson in Remember Me comes across like a latter-day James Dean. Playing Tyler Hawkins – a bohemian child of privilege consumed by Oedipal rage – the Twilight hunk fills the screen with cigarette smoke, stubble and hooded green eyes, but little else.” Michael O’Sullivan in the Washington Post.

Remember Me represents Robert Pattinson’s attempt to prove he can do more than sparkle like a faux vampire, but the case he presents is not convincing. He spends most of the movie trying to channel James Dean. Dean may have been overrated, but he had talent, charisma, and swagger. Pattinson seems to lack the first two qualities and he may be faking the third. (Although that, in and of itself, would be a form of acting.) … The word ‘lightweight’ seems entirely appropriate as a description of this leading man.” James Berardinelli at Reel Views.

“The star, as if you didn’t know, is Robert Pattinson, the moody vampire heartthrob from the Twilight series, a conceivably promising, certainly watchable actor in need of an immediate acting intervention.” Manohla Dargis in the New York Times.

‘Remember Me’ Canadian reviews: Brooding Robert Pattinson

Remember Me also received mixed reviews in Canada. Below are a few snippets from both English- and French-language publications.

“If Remember Me is remembered for anything at all, other than being yet another Robert Pattinson vehicle, it will be for its over-the-top ending, which ranks high amongst the most shameless jerkers of tears ever unleashed upon lachrymose teens. …

“… [Robert Pattinson] is a more than capable actor, yet he is doomed for all eternity to sit in a corner and brood about the girl/fish/life that got away. Even when he has good reason to brood – the suicide of his character Tyler’s older brother in Remember Me would certainly qualify – he seems excessively brood-y about it.” Peter Howell, The Toronto Star.

“Neither good nor bad, Remember Me has exactly the same mood of its dominant color: an insipid gray with barely any shine to it, soft and lacking attractiveness – a metaphorical portrait of its protagonists. Young viewers will find their idol as tortured as in the popular vampire features, while fans of romantic dramas will wait patiently until the dough rises …” Le Cinema.

“Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin are excellent as New York City lovers in this romantic tragedy.” Jay Stone, Canwest News Service.

“The gloomy romantic drama Remember Me, starring and produced [sic] by Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame, tries earnestly to stir us with its story of young love in New York in the summer of 2001. But director Allen Coulter (Hollywoodland) never convincingly ignites the romance – a truly obnoxious roommate character doesn’t help – and the film gets bogged down by plot points that plod toward an event of devastating proportions.” Jennie Punter, Toronto Globe and Mail.

‘Remember Me’ international reviews: Robert Pattinson no match for Pierce Brosnan?

Like in North America, Robert Pattinson’s Remember Me received mixed-to-negative reviews overseas – or at least in Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and, in one single instance that we found, France.

“It’s this twist for which Remember Me will mostly be talked about, regardless of whether you think it’s a breathtaking addition or a cheap ploy. Before this blindside, however, there’s an angst-filled young love affair to enjoy, largely thanks to the strong on-screen chemistry between Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin … Without the pale complexion and red lipstick, it’s easier to see why teens swoon over Pattinson. As Tyler, he’s brooding, intelligent and sexy …” Francesca Rudkin in the New Zealand Herald.

“Aided by strong acting and an intelligent script, Remember Me is a cut above most romantic films.” John Bale at The Blurb (Australia).

“It wasn’t this time around that Pattinson became more than the fad of the moment. In one of the few instances when his dramatic abilities are called forth, he’s wiped off the screen by Pierce Brosnan, who devours the young Englishman the way he used to do to his enemies during his James Bond days. And let’s face it, Brosnan wasn’t even the best 007.” Marcelo Forlani at Omelette.com (Brazil).

“In spite of the script, Pattinson reveals himself as an actor of subtlety now that he has assumed mortal form. It’s plain that there’s a mind powering all that angst. I just hope that he soon finds a better picture than this one. I was almost coming round to it but its gratuitously tacked-on ending put paid to that impulse.” Sandra Hall in the Sydney Morning Herald.

“[Remember Me] overdoes the Pattinson close-ups, featuring lovestruck and/or blank stares, sugary dialogue (“Our fingertips don’t fade from the lives we touch”), and, trying to replicate the tears elicited by Titanic, sets up a supposedly moving climax. … [U]nfortunately, Remember Me is more interested in showcasing its final surprise than in character development or a more consistent plot.” Alysson Oliveira at CineWeb (Brazil).

Remember Me is the most dispiriting load of old wallop I’ve sat through this century. It’s not just that the film is bad – there’s plenty of bad films that I’ve loved from beginning to end – it’s that Remember Me is completely fraudulent.” Graeme Tuckett at Stuff.co.nz (New Zealand).

“Pattinson sulks, smokes and stares at his feet all the way throughout this rather miserable drama about love, loss and fate, as if doing his best James Dean (who also had major father issues in East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause). Now those are memorable films from a memorable actor. Pattinson – and his film – try hard but fail in comparison.” Shannon Harvey in The West Australian.

“Another strong point is the acting, except for one particular performance. … Robert Pattinson is expressionless, getting ‘swallowed up’ every time he must share the screen with some of the more experienced actors. Remember Me is one more movie of dubious taste to be found in the curriculum of the star of the moment.” Darlano Didimo at Cinema com Rapadura (Brazil).

“Something unexpected happened around the half hour mark of the ho-hum romantic drama Remember Me. No, the film didn’t start to improve. Don’t be silly.  Rather, I realised that leading man Robert Pattinson – or RPattz as his legions of adoring Twilight fans call him – was in the middle of doing something many critics said he wasn’t capable of. Yes, he was acting. And doing a pretty darn good job of it too.” Cut Print Review (Australia).

“The closer the film gets to its finale, the slower and more predictable it gets. The final sequence is totally absurd and out of sync with the rest of the feature. … A wrap-up as sugary as possible would have been more dignified.” Emílio Franco Jr. at Cineplayers.com (Brazil).

“… Robert Pattinson is a delightfully surprising revelation, quickly making us forget the insipid vampire that made him famous.” Julie Decottignies at Excessif.com (France).

Remember Me Robert Pattinson Emilie de Ravin British critics deride London-born actor
Remember Me with Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin: U.K. critics mostly deride movie starring London-born actor.

Robert Pattinson, ‘Remember Me’ British reviews: Widespread derision

The Robert Pattinson romantic melodrama Remember Me has been getting mixed-to-negative reviews internationally, much like those it received in the United States. The ones further below, from British publications, have been particularly scathing.

Directed by Allen Coulter (Hollywoodland) from a screenplay by novice Will Fetters, Remember Me also stars Emilie de Ravin as Pattinson’s romantic interest, Pierce Brosnan as his father, and Chris Cooper as her father, in addition to Ruby Jerins, Tate Ellington, Peyton List, Gregory Jbara, and Lena Olin.

‘Remember Me’ British reviews: From James Dean and Edward Cullen to Holden Caulfield and Albert Camus

Curiously, U.K. reviewers have (for the most part) mercilessly panned a Hollywood movie which stars a London-born actor and features an Irish-born one (Pierce Brosnan) in a key supporting role.

Remember Me opened in the U.K. on April 2.

And for those who don’t know, Holden Caulfield is the name of the antihero in J.D. Salinger’s literary classic The Catcher in the Rye.

“This glum, self-important drama of familial dysfunction stars heart-throb du jour Robert Pattinson as Tyler, … Pattinson emotes in a tremulous can-I-play-James-Dean manner and scribbles his profound musings in an elegantly distressed notebook. He’s a bit fey, though less annoying than Will Fetters’ whiny script and Tyler’s effortfully clownish flatmate (Tate Ellington).” Anthony Quinn in The Independent.

“… [I]t’s a pallid and oddly exploitative affair. Pattinson plays Tyler Hawkins, a kind of millennial Holden Caulfield, right down to the gilded pedigree and precocious little sister. … Tyler, it transpires, is about to be stitched into history in a most cheap and tawdry fashion.” Xan Brooks in The Guardian.

“These ‘seize the day’ urgings seem out of tune with a film paced to chug to its destination with all the urgency of a Sunday train, but just when you are about to seize your coat, a sudden tragedy occurs, one that is supposed to stun you as a profound insight into bereavement but is really just a tacky exploitative coincidence.” Siobhan Synnot in Scotland on Sunday / The Scostman.

“He mopes around a grotty, sepia-toned apartment, quotes Gandhi to himself, and scribbles deep thoughts – it’s Edward Cullen meets Camus! You can actually monitor Pattinson’s emotions by his hair: it’s flat and greasy in the sad beginning, grows a quiff after he’s scored, and turns wild when he’s angry.” Wendy Ide in The Times.

“While the casting for this film is on paper very strong, it turns out to be its fatal flaw, as a robustly-New York based script sees an Aussie and a Brit take the leads. While both Pattinson and du Ravin suit there [sic] respective characters well, there is something a bit too British about the former which holds the emotional character of Tyler back, and something instinctively laid-back about the latter which sees her do the same.” Sarah Garrod at inthenews.co.uk.

“First time screenwriter Will Fetters stretches 30 minutes of drama to almost two hours of screen time, relying on the actors to scowl and brood while they wait for something to happen to their characters. And no one pouts with more conviction than Robert Pattinson, … the English actor glowers and sulks with gusto, and is just as lifeless and soulless here as he is in the Twilight saga, albeit with a better tan.” The Coventry Telegraph.

“There is a lot to admire in the film: the star is good (Pattinson will have legs when he’s done with Cullen), Allen Coulter’s direction is more than competent and there’s a nicely-chosen turn-of-the-millennium soundtrack (Sigur Ros, Ed Harcourt, Sparklehorse), yet it’s not enough to make up for the thoroughly miserable tone or contrived ending. Spoiling the finale would just be rude, but it’s the thing that absolutely kills Remember Me as a serious piece of drama.” Simon Reynolds at Digital Spy.

“As a study of the pains of adolescence, it’s not exactly Rebel Without a Cause, but much better than you might expect. The relationship between Tyler and Ally feels genuine rather than contrived, Brosnan sparkles in his handful of scenes, while some much-needed humour is supplied by Tate Ellington as a foul-mouthed roommate.” David Edwards in The Ticket / The Daily Mirror.

“There’s an unforgivably manipulative twist ending to this mushy Robert Pattinson-starring melodrama that raises the following questions. Does a drama devoid of incident, import, or drive before the twist ending, suddenly redeem itself when the reversal comes?” Stuart McGurk at NME.

“This year’s romantic heartthrob, R-Patz – Twilight star Robert Pattinson to those non-fanatics among you – has an executive-producer credit attached to this unobjectionable but slightly arch and sentimentalised 2001-set New York romantic drama. … [H]e might have chosen a more subtle director than Allen Coulter … and a better script than this clichéd, strangely humourless effort by newcomer Will Fetters. Nevertheless, the all-important romantic mechanics work well enough.” Wally Hammond in Time Out.

Robert Pattinson Remember Me interview

In other Remember Me news, at Pop Sugar Robert Pattinson discusses Remember Me antihero Tyler Hawkins, the fight scenes with Chris Cooper, why he feels attracted to “broken and troubled characters,” and his relationship with friends and family while growing up.

Below are a couple of snippets from the Pattinson interview, which is worth a read for those who have seen Remember Me. To date, the film has grossed more than $17 million at the North American box office and about $9.5 million overseas.

Robert Pattinson on the development of Tyler Hawkins:

“The script changed so much over seven months and just had loads and loads of re-writes. I tried to tailor things to what I was interested in, like the relationship with the dad changed quite a lot because I thought one of the things when you’re a young guy, one of your biggest fears is this irrational fear of walking in your dad’s footsteps and living the same life as him.”

Re: preparing for the fight scene:

“And the fight I was having at the beginning I was doing it with this big stunt guy … Then I was hitting him with what I thought was my full strength, I hit him in the head about four times and every time I hit him, I was like, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.’ And he’s like, ‘It’s fine, it didn’t even hurt.’ Yeah, that was kind of an ego deflater!”

ITV’s GMTV ‘Remember Me’ interview: ‘Rubbish’ romcom screenplays

Below are a couple of snippets from another Robert Pattinson interview, aired on ITV’s morning show GMTV following the London premiere of Remember Me.

“From what I’ve seen, older people do appreciate it [Remember Me] kind of in a different way than they appreciate the Twilight films. I mean, Twilight films are always seen by older people as a guilty pleasure, I think.”

“I’d love to [do romcoms] but they’re always just so rubbish! I mean … I’d absolutely love to do it, but I’ve literally never read a good romcom script.”

“[Pierce Brosnan] is much more recognizable than I am as well.”

Robert Pattinson discuss the making of ‘Remember Me’ on iTunes

And finally, Robert Pattinson discusses the making of Remember Me in three podcasts available for free at iTunes.

The podcasts are divided into three parts. In the first one, Pattinson talks with the filmmakers about his on-set chemistry with Emilie de Ravin, who plays his on-screen girlfriend, and Ruby Jerins, who plays his sister.

In part 2, Pattinson and the filmmakers discuss Tyler Hawkins. Tyler is a rebellious young New Yorker at odds with his wealthy father (Pierce Brosnan) following the suicide of his brother. (Shades of the Timothy Hutton-Mary Tyler Moore relationship in Robert Redford’s Ordinary People.)

In part 3, Pattinson and the filmmakers discuss the genesis of Will Fetters’ screenplay, and what made Pattinson decide to tackle the role of Tyler as his first starring vehicle following his success as Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga movies.

Update: The Robert Pattinson podcasts about the making of Remember Me seem to have been deleted.

I just went to Remember Me today. Are all you men blind: Do you have no taste at all? I am 69 year old married 50 year woman and that man can act let alone sexey as hell! Critics must be men or gay women!. He is fantastic and you are all wrong about Rob!

ahh..tear-jerker? yes. completely epic? most definately!! Rob was PERFECT for the part of Tyler. and even my friend who doesn’t like Rob was completely sobbing at the end of the movie. the first time I saw it, i was yelling at the screen in the theater I did not like the ending! I still don’t but it’s one of those movies that no matter how sad they are, or how much you cry, you want to watch it again and again! and it never gets old! it’s just absolutely amazing and i recomend it for anyone that doesn’t mind sobbing at a movie. “Gandhi said that whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it’s very important that you do it. I tend to agree with the first part.” <33

I have only just seen this film and I thought that it was amazing. It shouldn’t offend anyone in relation to the 9/11 theme at the end, it reminds people what happened and how so many innocent lives were taken that horrible day. I feel the critics are using the theme to bring up an issue that isn’t really there. In actual fact the controversy probably has made this film even more popular as people want to see what the fuss is about. The film in itself was great, I enjoyed every moment and I thought every actor in it did their job incredibly well.

When I read some of the comments by the critics I have to wonder if they saw the same movie I did. Remember Me is a great movie that captured me from its opening scene and left me pondering it long after I had walked out of the cinema. I did not think “Edward Cullen” once and Robert Pattinson as a young man almost broken beyond repair by pain was heartbreakingly convincing. It was not a generic, formulaic movie that Hollywood churns out by the dozen. Perhaps that was the problem with the critics - they have forgotten what a “real” story looks and sounds like. I highly recommend Remember Me and will most certainly see it again.

Those middle agle white dudes are not reviewing Remember Me. They’re reviewing Twilight. It’s not that hard to see either b/c they’re so obvious.

I am a New York, born and raised in NY. I saw the towers go up and saw them come down, and experienced loss as a result. I was not offended in any way with the movie’s use of 9/11. I am actually pleased that someone had the courage to remind everyone of what happened, as so many people are becoming immune to this traegic day. The critics rant like jealous children. Rob Pattinson did show that he can act. Rob along with the rest of the cast did a wonderful job portraying a horrific event. I think this was a wonderful movie and it should be given the credit it deserves, as it had the same impact as that terrible day. So the movie did its job. I intend to see this movie again to support 9/11 and everyone who was responsible in making this film.

I would like to take Mr. Pattinson seriously as an actor but as long as he is doing some romantic drama, it is hard to begin.

For a movie to capture me in the first five minutes is great, but to maintain my interest throughout its story line is extremely impressive. Excellent story, one which every parent should watch. As for the actors, INCREDIBLE performances, pulling you in and not letting you breathe until the very end when you’re wiping your tears. Pattinson, this is your best performance…way to go, you did it. Teriffic score, but towards the end music gave away the ending before the finale. This movie comes highly recomended with much worth.

I just saw this movie and it was wonderful. I do not feel it exploits 9/11 in any way. Only nine years have passed and people have already begun to become numb to 9/11. I was twenty years old when that horrific day happened, and pregnant with my first child. I promised myself I would live each day like it was my last, and I have kept my promise. This movie teaches us the importance of living and how wrong it is to just think each day is guaranteed. The movie teaches us to live and to love, and to always remember how important it is to share our love with those around us.

I would like to thank the actors and crew who worked on this film. It was incredibly brave to use 9/11 in the script and you did it beautifully. Thank you for having the courage to bring to life a script which others probably hesitated about. It was an honor to watch the film, and I will never forget the feeling I walked away with. You should feel proud of yourselves, and don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.

>>>>>>>>>>Your quote of Newsweek is out of context… It made it sound like the article is accusing the movie being exploitative. But the article actually made a clearly opposite point.

Ending the quote with “Remember Me” referred to as “one of the biggest tear-jerkers to come out of Hollywood since Titanic” is hardly a negative remark or an accusation of exploitation.

>>>>>>>>>Your quote on Part I of NYTimes of Pattinson is also problematic, because the articles actually says Pattinson eventually “delivers”…

Now, you’re quoting Dargis’ review out of context. This is what she says at the end of her NYT review:

“Mr. Pattinson shoots Mr. Brosnan a lot of dark, hurting looks, but does his best work with Ruby Jerins, an appealing child actress who plays his sister, Caroline. When they’re together, Mr. Pattinson actually seems happy to be on screen: better yet, he doesn’t pull a James Dean Lite, he delivers.”

This movie is one of the best i have ever seen. It has stirred up so much emotion in me. I think that the ending fit the movie. We don’t know whats going to happen next and we need to cherish each moment that we have (I know that sounds cliche but its true). I have been having a hard time lately and this movie reminded me of whats really important. I think Robert Pattinson did an outstanding job! He was so different from Twilight and i saw a new/better actor. The whole cast did great and they fit their parts perfectly. This movie has moved me and I really want to change who ive been lately into who i used to be. I liked that person better. Great job team. Amazing film.

There were many parts where I had to fight back my tears. I have to admit it was alot better than I thought it would be. However, I didn’t really know the plot behind it when I decided to watch it, so the ending was a total surprise to me. I think the ending totally helped make the movie as good as it is. When I saw Robert looking out the windows after the date was shown. I dropped my face to my hands and all I could think was omg are you kidding me! Seeing someone that was such a good person, and he had no idea what was about to happen. I couldn’t help but cry. This movie was by far great though! I would watch it again and again.

I watched the film yesterday twice, and twice again today! i absolutely LOVED it. The twist at the end literally made my jaw drop to the floor, I didn’t see it coming at all, although I did pick up on a few things about the timing and wondered what it was about. I’m really sad to see a few people have said negative things because I think it’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen - but I spose everyone has different opionions. The actors were all amazing and I really liked the relationship between Tyler and his little sister Caroline, it really broke my heart as she got bullied and he tried to protect her. The bit where the date is revealed at the end is amazing … I couldn’t believe it! 5 star!

Okay, so I have to admit, I am a fan of Rob’s as Cedric, Edward, Tyler, or any other role he chooses to play. He fits into this movie just as much as he has with his previous roles. I loved this movie. I’m very touched by it. It is truly an amazing film. I am a 30 year old Twilight fan. Still, I saw Rob’s character as Tyler, not as Edward. I believe Twilight fans can and do have the same emotional feelings at the end of this movie as anyone else. 9/11 didn’t just effect the US, it effected everyone around the globe. The character I related to the most was Caroline. I grew up with a dad exactly like her’s. At least the problems between the two of them get resolved in the end. In real life, problems don’t always get resolved. My family has done everything to try to resolve the problems with my dad. He’s the only one who refuses to resolve anything, therefore, nothing can be resolved.

The ending should not have been a surprise. It opened with a murder. It quite soon got us to a graveyard and a family remembering a loved one. A professor in a classroom raised the question regarding terrorists — about the morality of people who committ acts of terror. A little girl innocently is victim to a haircut prank by cruel little girls. In between you have a cop who has lived with a broken heart for many years, Tyler who is in a permanent state of grief and is seriously trying to either find himself, writing letters to a dead brother and has that brother’s name tattooed on his chest. Did the critics miss these? they were not red herrings, but led us to the end and made room for a father to move closer to his daughter, Tyler’s last contribution to his family, a family fractured and then made partially whole. Caroline has a shot at a life and a life not spent writing letters to a dead Tyler. Did the critics notice that there were other actors in the movie? The cop? Tyler’s mother? Tyler’s step father had an amazing presence in the film and I think he spoke three lines. i will not forget him carrying a tea tray across a dark backlit room. The house mate who wants to finish college, get married, have a mistress, get divorced, and have erectile dyfunction. My ONLY criticism is that Tyler never opened a book except that raggedy(sic) notebook of letters to his brother and that he was making music in that with one note. over and over. Critics, get some life experience.

I just saw this movie and I must admit Robert Pattison did an excellent job playing the role. He has proven to the world that he is truly talented in acting and I like his singing as well. The movie was good I just did not like the ending and yes it really happened but the thought of that day still hold painful memories for me as an American. We all lost that day and I really did not want to remember that again. Overall, I enjoyed the movie
Good Job Rob!!

It figures that the critics panned this film. Likely the same ones that thought the Curious Case of Benjamin Button was great. I am not a teenage heartthrob candidate by any stretch of the imagination and I loved this movie. It moved me a profound way and put a face on an event that most of only experienced from a distance. Robert Pattinson is clearly a force to reckoned with. I was impressed with all the acting. There was a chemistry in the cast I don’t see that often. If the critics pan a movie, that’s an indication to me to see it, because it usually it ends up being a great movie. I was blown away by how this movie impacted me and it continues to stay with me. If you don’t find this film moves you, then I would question your ability to access your emotions. Thanks to all who were involved in this and know that most of the reviews I have read from the general public differ greatly from the pro-dogs.

I just watched this film and OMG it was such a weird beginning with an intimate but dramatic middle part and the ending was the most non-expecting finish i could ever imagine.

Also to see Robert Pattinson in this film is weird because after seeing Twilight He looks and acts so diffrently in this film.

After all though it was a very good film glad it was diffrently from Twilight.

But that would have been his/her life beforehand its not like they were waiting for it to happen. they lived there lifes and then lost them for a horrible reason. this is just showing people loved and then lost that day.

Okay…My first comment was a little harsh..So I’ll readd. Samantha…I don’t think you’re getting the point. Crude, offensive, and unpatriotic? How the hell do you get that? It wasn’t a bunch of kids bombing America. Just because the movie shocked you at the end with a whole new element added to it, doesn’t mean that it was a bad movie. What, did you think that boy and girl would be together forever? Would that have made you happy? Because for the record, it doesn’t always happen like that…it RARELY happens like that…and you should admire a movie that has the balls to have an ending of TRUTH.

Well, as soon as I saw the teacher write 9/11 on the board I was brought to tears. To not know what was coming would be completely impossible. I found the movie very moving, but was expecting a happy ending. Then again those life come with happy endings? The movie was gritty and captured the real world. Robert Pattinson, in my opinion proved to me that he is more then then pretty face that we have come to know as Edward Cullen. I was glad I watched that movie, which I was completely expecting to be one big mushy gushy fail of a movie, but it was the complete opposite. It truly captured my emotions, it made me laugh, it made me cry, and most of all it made me think.

The story line was great and robert pattinson was angry but was not the bad boy. He was angry about his dad. He did not go out and do anything on purpose that is what a bad boy does. I thought he was okay. Some of his words were so british it was hard to understand. think that the cop was the best actor in this movie. The ending of the movie was really the shocker. It is a keeper. I already bought it.

Ok, so I have to admit I was not a fan of Robert Pattinson as Edward. BUT what the heck does that have to do with this film???? I hate how everyone thinks that he isn’t good for this role because of his Edward persona. He fits into this movie much better than he did in the Twilight Series. Of course that’s just my personal opinion.

I honestly LOVED this movie, I’m still very touched by it and not quite able to exhibit my response just yet. It is truly an amazing film… in my opinion anyway.

So, the tiny chance that I was going to let my wif drag me to this flop is gone now. Even the guys own country hates him. Thanks Hollywood. It’s not bad enough we have homegrown trash actors/actresses. Now we have to import it. James Dean would be rolling over in his grave to see his name beside this schmuk. I’m sure the cougars will come post about how great of an actor he is because he’s ‘dreamy’. Leonardo Dicaprio has proven himself. I don’t see Pattinson ever doing that. Don’t worry cougars and teenage girls, he’ll be doing mall and book tours near you for the rest of his life. On to the next pretty boy.

I’m just beyond being a teenager (though I am a true Twilight fan) and yes, I’ll admit, I was thinking about how hot R-Patz looked! But this film blew me away. From the beginning, I remember thinking, there is going to be a reason this is not set in the present day. It was literally moments before it was revelaed that I realised. I think the inclusion of 9/11 enhanced the meaning of the film, and revealed that what we do isn’t insignificant, as Tyler questions at the start of the film. 9/11 was unexpected, and to me personally, the sheer injustice was magnified, for I’m sure there were many like Tyler, who never were at the WTC, yet on that day at that time, there they were. More to the fact, that it was the significance and goodness of Tylers final acts that lead him to be there at that time on that day made the ending all the more tragic. Watch this film!

Reply
Nikki -

I think a lot of people, when they are slating the ending of the film, are missing what I considered to be one of the main points.
9/11 came from nowhere, nobody expected it and it was truley tragic for everyone - whether they were actually involved or just watching on tv around the world. I for one thought that this film captured that just perfectly.

I really enjoyed the film. It was good to see Robert Pattinson show exactly how good an actor he really is without acting the part of an alread much loved character. I’m so glad I didn’t check the reviews before I saw it however, as knowing the ending would have completely ruined the film for me.

True. Two out of three were negative. But the second one was mixed.

So those three reviews were supposed to be representative of the ‘mixed’ reviews Remember Me has been getting? Then why are all of them negative? I’ve seen some really good reviews of this movie so I know they’re out there. But it seems only the negative ones are ever listed by ‘objective’ film reviews. And I do not understand why reviewers make it sound like the ending is tacked on or exploitative when it really isn’t. It doesn’t help either to try and make people think that if they like this movie and are affected by it that they are just sheep or not very intelligent. This is a great moving little movie that doesn’t deserve the bad rap that so many critics are giving it. I wonder why so many of us moviegoers can see what the movie is trying to say and so many reviewers can’t. Tis a puzzlement.

Hollywood has been exploiting historical events in films forever and in the most grotesque ways. How many wars movies, holocust movies, riots etc. Isn’t it amazing a small little movie with a subtle reference to 9/11 cause such a stir among the self-important parasites oops I meant critics. The film doesn’t even show anyting except a date on a board and view of the towers. OMG It’s the end of the world. They are so full of CRAP it’s laughable. I guess the “Hurt Locker” was exploiting the Iraq war and the 1.2 million murdered Iraquis then. They didn’t seem to have a problem with that. They glorified it with awards. Phony Much!

also i think robert pattinson is a great actor and i like twilight but in the twilight movies he hasn’t got a chance to show he can act beyond his brooding face and from the trailer of remember me it looks like he’s going to be branching out and with films like bel ami and water for elephants and unbound captives coming out over the next few years there’s just gonna be no pause in his career.
no actor can avoid type cast e.g hugh grant= romcom king johnny depp is a oddball in the majority of films so i hope rob finds himself in a genre he likes i think films with a deeper meaning would suit him more because he seems like a deep and intelligent guy

to be honest mr pattinson isn’t really gonna care about negative critics opinions mainly because he’s getting payed a higher salary than they ever would and also that he’s going somewhere and they might be lucky enough to someday be a crap tv personality

basically people don’t bother with the reviews about remember me just make up your own minds and at least go see it although even from the trailer it looks like it will be quite heavy so yeah.

The film is phenomenal! From the moment it started, I was completely lost in the characters and their lives. The ending is a fantastic tribute to New York and most that live there believe the same. The last line in the last review, (Scotland on Sunday), was just plain rude! There was no tacky exploitative coincidence and not many films have been created that actually humanize that piece of history. It’s no chick flick, so be prepared, but do not miss this amazing movie!

I can’t understand everyone who claims that this movie exploited a tragedy and/or was offensive and appalling. What it did was show that ordinary people, just like the characters in this movie, were affected by the events of that day. What it did was create a sympathetic character and then have something horrific happen to him. Isn’t that somewhat of a tribute to all the ordinary, everyday, good people who died that day? I think so. I couldn’t stop crying when the credits were rolling; it brought me right back to that day. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all to remember.

As far as acting, Pattinson held his own with the likes of Chris Cooper and Pierce Brosnan. If he can get out of the Twilight stereotype, he has a brilliant career ahead of him.

Samantha -

HOW DARE all involved to allow this movie to exploit the tragic events of 911. The ending was completely inappropriate, and unnecessary. It did not fit AT ALL with the previous events of the movie. All in all, it was “CRUDE”, “OFFENSIVE”, and “UNPATRIOTIC” at its best.

Those that have seen the movie, including myself, give it great reviews and commend Rob on his acting. On boxofficemojo it has a 71% grade A rating and only 17% giving it an F rating. The rest were in the middle. That’s from people who have actually seen the movie, not too bad a rating imo. I saw the movie with an open mind and disregarded those critics that were negative about it. The movie got really good reviews from some of the more respected critics, like USA today and Roger Ebert, to name a few. Anyway, the movie was brilliant and my take on it was that it was a beautiful love story and a very touching tribute to the events of the time, a reminder that sometimes we get lost in numbers and forget that each and every individual that was taken during that tragedy had their own personal story. Robert’s acting was amazing as was the other cast members. From those that have seen it there is about an 80% or higher approval rating. Rob deserves a lot of credit for the boldness he showed in choosing this script and making this movie. He could have played it safe and put out the usual mindless fluff that Hollywood mostly churns out, but he wants to be known as a serious actor who takes his craft seriously. He is not a famewhore like most of them and is not in the business just to make money, he wants to put out decent and thought provoking work, like Remember Me. To me the film isn’t just about remembering Tyler but about remembering and honoring everyone that lost their lives that day. If you haven’t seen it yet GO.

I get the impression from all the critics that have given negative reviews that they are trying to tear Robert pattinson down. I saw the movie and I thoght it was great. I would recommend it to anyone. Don’t listen to the critics, go and judge for yourself. I identified with three of the issues portrayed in the movie and the reaction I had with some of the events that occurred in the movie were very similar to those that I had in real life. Some were gut punches and thats how they were in real life. I believe one critic said “completely fraudulent”. If I have identified with the issues then it can’t be fraudulent. I didn’t know what to expect when I went in but I was surprised, it is not like alot of the movies today which are action packed and use sex to sell. I enjoyed it alot and I took from it “enjoy and be grateful for what you have in life because it can easily be taken away”

Linda, Houston, TX -

Finally the fans got it. I should have known that the critics wouldn’t have caught on that the whole movie was deliberately and specifically moving toward the ending. This was NOT a twist or exploitive, it was the plot from the beginning. It hooked us in to these two families dealing with tragedy and loss and make up really like and care for them. Then it showed us that life is brief and even the unthinkable can happen. By following the characters and how 9/11 affected them, it showed us that Tyler’s life had a purpose and truly touched the people he loved. I am sure that is exactly what happeded with the lives of those lost that fateful day. Great way to make us FEEL the horrible loss, it has been too forgotten by most and this reawakens those feelings again. Thanks to all involved with this fantastic film. Critics, get it right. You need to go see it again.

I agree with Sevi - the character of Tyler played by Robert Pattinson impacted all the other characters in a positive way - his father started to make more time for his daughter, Ally faced her fear and went back to the place on the subway where her mother was murdered, Aiden became more serious about his studies, Ally’s father gained more insight into himself and his little sister gained strength to be OK with being different. His character had a beautiful soul and I think that is what came through in this movie. This movie is a real gem and it’s a pity that it didn’t receive the hype that so many “blockbuster” movies do and therefore the same box office $$$$.

No wonder Hollywood is so screwed up! They don’t get the fact that real lives are complicated, messy and sometimes tragic. I am so sick of “critics” who wouldn’t know reality if it bit them in the rear. I’ve already seen the Remember Me 3 times (yes, Pattinson is mesmorizing) but, more importantly I loved the dialogue, the various relationships and the ending. Each time I have seen it, it reminds me to remember what is important.

I saw the movie and was really hit home was the fact that my children lived that life. Their father was only interested in making money and his next conquest. He virtually ignored our daughter making her feel unworthy of his love. Our youngest son commited suicide and my oldest son disappeared for five years trying to deal with the loss of his brother. I thought the young stars play the loss of their individual family members well, but I didn’t get why Tyler killed himself.

The movie is great! Diferent from the usual action-but-no-plot young people usually go for…And yes, “it could as well have been French”, because French movies usually have interesting plots. At the exception of Lena Olin’s, the acting is good. Rob is intriguing, as always; the relationships felt real. The movie was always about 911, but the critics don’t seem to get it! They missed the point and should not be critizing anything!

I know some people think it’s tacky that they added on this particular ending to the film, but from my point of view, the direction of the story had to lead somewhere big; otherwise, it could not be summed up properly. The beautiful irony and realism of this film is that in life, just when things seem to be turning around and looking up, something tragic and awakening happens that changes everything. The story spends almost two hours making its audience connect with the main character. In the end, you realize the incredible impact that this character had not only on you, but on the other characters in the film. It seems that everyone who’s life he touched are better for it after he is gone. It’s a way of honoring him. And the 9/11 stuff was shot so tastefully that although it adds shock value to the plot, it’s not a self-indulgent attempt to capitalize in any way on the actual event itself.

The movie was a real treasure. It was cut differently than most movies and seemed to be like you were actually watching little snips of the characters’ lives. It moved quickly, the characters were real and Rob was objectively moving and outstanding. He should get a nomination for it.

As far as low returns at the box office…we are in a bad recession, the movie did not get a lot of hype like Twi and New Moon and Rob was filming in Europe and not able to devote too much time to promo. Rob is more talented than most people realize. He is not just a handsome guy, he is very charismatic and on his way to being a great actor.

Rob and all his costars were amazing. SEE THIS MOVIE if you have a heart or need to give to forgiveness to someone….life is short.

Just through friends, I have recently heard of three suicides, all unrelated, all of young men 20-22 years old. It’s really sad, very sad. Remember me, really touched me in it’s authenticity. Tyler’s relationships with Caroline (the little actress was amazing) and Ally( also a solid performance) felt real. The ending reminds us all of the 100’s of personal tradgies we read about in papers after 9/11 These stories of these lives should not be forgotten. There was a possibility that this small movie may not ever have been produced if not for Mr. Pattinson…I hope more people will see it. Don’t listen to the bad reviews.

I am glad to see a movie made that is thought provoking and shows people in real life situations. I am glad that such talented actors took the time to make such a moving story. I saw the movie twice and both times there was not a dry eye in the theater. Movies have gotten so cheap and gratuitus that it is refreshing to see a movie that gripps you and makes you look at yourself and the importance of each life lived. Thank you for making this movie. It does have a more important purpose than just making a dollar. God Bless!

I have not seen it and probably won’t. I’m sure it’s good, but I can’t deal with sad endings. I believe it was a proper ending because 9-11 happened and it was absolutely horrible. Real people with futures died. I’m glad a story like this was told because probably true with someone who died the terrible day. Wish I could see it, but I would be way too emotional. Thanks for putting a movie like this out. 9-11 is something that we all should remember…just like the movie says, “remember me.”

What a great movie. The acting was so good - the tension between Tyler and his father (Brosnan) was almost palpable and the chemistry between Tyler and Ally was both sweet and sizzling. It’s a real story with real dialogue. This movie really touched me - it’s been almost a week since I saw it and I am still thinking about it. Will definitely go see it again while it is still in the cinemas and will be adding it to my DVD collection

This movie was very touching with a sad ending but RP did such a good job in this role. Him and
Emilie showed good chemistry. I don’t understand why people find the ending so offensive?? It wasn’t exploited in my opinion. If it was such an “offense” then nobody should be making any movies about wars, the holocaust, Pearl Harbor, nor end-of-the-world movies either! Plus, ever since 911 happened there were so many t.v. shows depicting the aftermath but nobody complained. I never listen to movie critics anyway. They’re never satisfied with anything anyway. Great job Rob on bringing forth a movie of ordinary people coping with tragedies in life.

Nina listen to yourself!! These people are actors - it is their job to portray people from various walks of life, nationalities, religious beliefs etc. We’ve had Renee Zellweger play the very British Bridget Jones, Ben Kingsley (British) play Gandhi and the list goes on and on. 9/11 may have happened on US soil but it has affected over 90 nations around the world. I might also add that the US is not the only country to experience horrific terrorist attacks on its soil - bombs on British buses and trains, bombs on Spanish trains, restaurants blown up in Indonesia etc. Unfortunately terrorism has touched the lives of millions of people the world over - not just Americans. I also think you missed the point of the movie - it was not about 9/11 per se but illustrated how fragile and precious life is and how you can never know when your time or that of a loved one is up.

One of the best movies I have seen in a long, LONG time. I wish they made more meaningful films like this and I commend Rob for having the boldness to take on this script. It was a very beautiful and touching movie and wonderful acting by Robert and the other cast members. If you haven’t seen this movie yet GO, you’ll love it.

Robert did a very good job with acting on this movie. I like that he was subtle but very powerful. Other reviews have said that Pierce acted better in their joint scenes, but I disagree. I am not a screaming Twihard, but can admire this turn for all it’s goodness. The movie stays in your mind and makes you think, which is a very good thing indeed.

I SAW THE FILM TWICE NOW AND I HAVE LOVED IT BOTH TIMES. I THINK ROB PATTINSON HAS ALREADY GROWN AS AN ACTOR. I CAN SEE HIM DOING SOME GREAT WORK IN FRONT OF AND POSSIBLEY BEHIND THE CAMARA. IT IS GOOD TO SEE BRIGHT YOUNG TALENT NOT GO TO WASTE. I THINK ROBERT HAS THE DEBTH TO SHOW THE DESPAIR AND EVEN ALONENESS IN THE PARTS HE HAS PLAYEDE SO FAR. I FOR ONE DO NOT LISTEN TO THE CRITICS SAY OR THINK, THEY ARE NOT REAL PEOPLE. AND I DO NOT THINK THEY ARE IN TOUCH WITH THE AVERAGE PERSON. GOOD JOB ON THE MOVIE REMEMBER ME. WELL WORTH THE WAIT.

I am crushed by the fact that Tyler died and he and Ally would never have their future together. I loved the movie and I think Rob is going to be bigger than anyone has any idea that he could be. WHY they had to kill him off, I don’t know, but Remember Me is worth every penny you spend to see it. Great cast, strong performances, guaranteed to make you cry. You WILL remember Remember Me. To the critics that are so negative about it, you wouldn’t know a good movie if it smacked you in the face! Critics don’t know diddly about what the public wants. Way to go, Rob! Looking forward to more of your films. You’re the best!!!

Of course I love RP as Edward, and this movie also has him as a brooding young man. But, so what?! That is the character and he played it well. Maybe it isn’t the greatest movie ever made, but it sure kept me entertained and told an interesting story of a possibility on that particular day. After all, several “just plain folks” were lost that day and this movie portrays someone like that. I don’t believe any harm is done in telling the story, AND the title says it all.

What an excellent Movie that was. It followed me for days and that rarely happens with all the crap what is out there. All the Actors were fantastic and to see Rob only as Edward is like seeing Pierce only as 007. Rob is very unique and will have a great future ahead of him. To the critics I only have one thing to say…GET A REAL JOB because most of you suck.

I liked it. I’m hoping for some smiles from Robert in another film. Yeah, it did bring up 9/11. A lot of people have some very bad memories of that day but that’s what made this movie. Robert really is good looking without all the vampire makeup! I think he’ll grow as an actor.

To Brenda Hussain…THANK YOU for stating your opinion so eloquently and for the hurt you have had to endure in your life. Rob did an excellent job. I am very proud of him. Signing on as an executive producer to protect the integrity of this story just speaks volumes of his integrity.
One more point..Since there are so many critics out there with zero comprehension skills, let’s explain the broodiness that is complained about here in this article. A few years had passed since his brother’s suicide when the brother turned 22years of age. Tyler (Rob’s character) was approaching the same milestone so I would have to imagine that this would be cause enough for his inner turmoil. The story takes place over the summer of 2001. It doesn’t mean that he was broody 24/7 for all those years. Pattinson also shows some comedic skill in this movie so their are some light moments…it’s not all doom and gloom.

Kudos Rob…keep picking great movies..you are on a roll.

Oh and BTW..Remember Me is the number one fan choice on Fandango and some other movie sights as well.

I think this shows what the public wants. Hollywood are you listening?

I saw this movie twice in row! I loved it! The end was fitting given the time - I thought that the movie was real - there was nothing over dramatic or unrealistic - it is a reminder that the people that died in the tragedy were real people dealing with everyday issues and that yes everyone touches someone forever - I think it is sad that people are walking away saying the movie sucked - they really should say they dont want to remember that day or the people that were lost. the event was done tastefully and if the end was not given away before seeing it - your heart drops to realize that you just saw what really happened - and for me that moment went black around world - that is reality not hollywood babble! Congrats to Robert Pattinson for being a part of something so real and he did a great job in the film. LOVED IT!

REBUTTLE TO NEGATIVE PRESS PULICITY OF MOVIE REMEMBER ME AND ROBERT PATTINSON’S ACTING ABILITIES.

I cannot keep my mouth shut any longer! For those of you who continually tell me that I have a big mouth, today I am going to prove you right…again!

I am so pissed and so infuriated at the negative comments and remarks said online and on television about not only Robert Pattinson’s inept acting abilities but also the movie having the audacity to bring up the tragic event that happened on September 11, 2001 in the movie Remember Me.

I am offended that there are people in this world that view life as a constant fairytale! That people can be so belittling to ridicule another human being for having the strength and fortitude in attempting to eke out a living in a world where, well, let’s just face it, is not doing so well economically. It is called survival people!

To speak ill and cruelly of Robert Pattinson for believing so much in the plot and of the character that he portrayed in this movie, really pisses me off! So what if he deviated from his “perfect character Edward Cullen” that he is so famous for and took a leap of faith and just said, “Oh, why not…” No one, above all, Robert Pattinson, should have to justify and defend to anyone but himself why he chose to accept to participate in this movie!

I have not seen the movie, but I am a huge fan of Robert’s! But let’s face it, in agreeing to take on such a character as Tyler in Remember Me, all he really did was to remind us all of the tragedy that took place on September 11, 2001. And in his portrayal of an angry young man who has issues with his father, he merely demonstrated and confirmed that we are all human and live in dysfunctional families! No one is perfect and no one’s life is perfect. Truth told, we all live in dysfunctional families, every single one of us! From movie stars to professional football players to professional golfers to CEO’s of corporations to the everyday average and not-so average person, we all suffer from some sort of dysfunction in our lives and families. Remember Me just brought a side of that to the big picture for those who chose to pay the money to be reminded of the fact.

I watched “At the Movies” on television yesterday hoping to get more footage of the movie and of Robert. However, what I got instead were two men bickering over which was worse, Robert’s incompetent acting abilities or the weak and mediocre writing of the script.

Robert’s acting abilities in this movie was inferior, really? From the clips I have seen, I would have to give the man an A for his acting abilities. He reminded me of my own actions and those actions of my other siblings when we were faced with our devastation of a beloved brother who committed suicide 16 years ago. He reminded me of the anger and the hurt I felt when my brother decided to end his life because in doing so, my brother negated to consider what his actions would do to those of us he left behind. Suicide of a loved one does not always bring families closer together. In reality, most of the time, it tears them apart such as it did in my family because not only does anger and hurt set in, but also betrayal and blame comes to light. Moreover, when those emotions and feelings surface, we are not the least bit concerned how we may or may not “act” accordingly to those around us! Our life’s miseries and devastations should not be set forth for debate by another person in such a negative, harmful, disapproving way, but in an understanding and supportive way.

Just like Tyler in Remember Me, I had a lot of resentment towards my mother for the death of my brother. Her lack of care and concern for his needs while still on this Earth and those needs of her other children left behind after he was gone, only made me more bitter and more enraged. I “acted” how any normal, genuine human being does when faced with such a loss.

That seems to be a reoccurring premise in our society. A premise that life should be depicted in the media and on screen as ideal and picture perfect. But in reality, real people get angry. Real people commit suicide. Real people make mistakes. Real people hurt each other! Real people have their own way in dealing with death.

Life is not picture perfect and no human being is perfect. Why do we continue to perceive it to be? Although I wish I were like a super model, I am not. I am not tall, skinny, and beautiful. I also have my shortcomings, and I and make mistakes because I am human. My name is not Jesus; therefore, I sin. No one lives the Brady Bunch or Leave it to Beaver life in the real world! If anyone says they live such a life, they are lying. We are all just trying to survive in a world that is uncertain, tentative, and undefined. Life is forever changing, altering, and shifting.

To those of you who are offended and furious at the movie’s depiction of “what could have happened” to one fictional family on 911 and that is…get over it! Do any of you really know what those 2,000 plus people was doing in the Twin Towers on that fateful day? We assume most of them were just reporting for a day of work. But NOT ALL OF THEM showed up that day for a paycheck. What if… someone really did go there that day to speak to a loved one to ask for forgiveness and make amends for some past wound or insult or hurt between them? Can we not imagine the possibility for one minute that maybe, just may, ONE of those 2,000 plus individuals there that day went there for just that very purpose? What IF there was really was an actual “Tyler” but no one has come to the forefront to enlighten us all on his story? For months after the tragedy, we witnessed on television loved ones coming forward to speak of the loved ones they lost that day. We only witnessed the stories that the media wanted us to know. We will never be well versed in ALL the lives lost that day.

September 11, 2001 was a tragic day for all Americans. It should not be forgotten. We should never be ashamed or offended to remember or speak of it. This movie just reminded us of that fact and that to never forget. As Tyler said, “Our fingerprints don’t fade from the lives we touch…”.

Until today, I had mixed emotions about going to see this movie because of a storyline that hit so close to home. I was afraid the emotions I had finally come to terms with and buried of my own brother’s suicide would resurface. I was afraid that I may not be able to cope with them should that happen. Especially since my brother’s suicide, I have also lost a sister, a nine-year-old nephew, and my own mother. However, I am going to see this movie to support and to defend Robert Pattinson and head to the theater tomorrow to face my fears knowing that I am not going there to scrutinize and analyze Robert’s acting ability in the movie. I am going to go observe how one young man named Tyler, who lived a dysfunctional life, tried to come terms with his pain in losing a brother to suicide and his anger at his father, and say to myself “I’ve been there. I understand and appreciate this man’s grief and sorrow and anguish.”

Robert, if you are reading this, congratulations! I am giving you a standing ovation for not only your acting abilities in this movie, but to everything that you have to put up with in bad publicity and those who are not a fan of yours. Screw ‘em! You have nothing to prove to anyone but yourself. You give a lot of yourself to your fans and in the work that you do. If no one has told you lately, I am proud of you! I have a son your age, trying to make his mark in the world as well in his chosen field. It is not an easy accomplishment. At times, it can be disheartening. However, most people are quick to humiliate and patronize instead of praise those, like yourself, who attempt to thrive and succeed in life. Hold your head high, never mitigating or justifying your actions to anyone. For those who do not accept and recognize what you contribute in a sick dysfunctional world, only appreciate and be grateful that they are the closed-minded souls you are fortunate to NOT have to deal with in your personal life.

In addition, remember this, after all is said and done. Because of that “inept acting” you do so well on the big screen, at the end of the day, when you lay your head on your pillow at night, you go to sleep knowing you have a huge bank account and twenty million young girls, women, and gay men fantasizing about spending the rest of their dysfunctional lives with you! How many of your worst critics can say that when they lay their heads to rest at night?

I will continue to follow you on Twitter at Bhussain42! When you get a chance, check out my page and see the picture of my granddaughter, Bella, named after the character in the Twilight Saga! I will be in line, just like the rest of your diehard fans come March 20 to pick up my copy of New Moon! Moreover, when Remember Me comes out on video, I will be there to purchase a copy as well!

If you are ever in my neck of the woods, come see me so I can tell you in person how much I appreciate all that you do!

I loved the movie. It was sad and the ending was heart-breaking but, it’s nice to see a movie that shows more than the loss of 09/11. For me, all the 09/11 movies really focus on the event itself so much, that we forget the everyday lives that all the victims of 09/11 lived. The movie is basic and real and no maybe everyone’s life is not that dramatic but we don’t know, only the family and friends of those who died remembers the days, weeks and years before. Remember Me makes 09/11 personal and not political, it shows a much needed personal side of 09/11, the love before the loss.

Unfortunately for Rob there are people out there that would love nothing more for him to fail. Such a shame! He Executive Produced towards the end of filming he was not Procucer. Let’s get the facts straight. People really need to read the Newsweek article newsweek.com/id/234827

@ Nina I am going to suggest you go “Wiki” the 9/11 disaster.
IMHO people should always check facts before they make sweeping statements.
I am amazed that you state it happened to “Americans”. Are you aware that over 90 countries lost citizens when the WTC was attacked.
Yes it happened on USA soil. Yes it was appalling but why do you negate these other countries and their people. Are they so unimportant that they don’t rate a mention?
Also why do you make a personal attack on the character of these young people with accusations that you cannot possibly have proof to support.
I was not going to answer your comments but I must say that I am tired of reading comments like yours. If you are not smart enough to get your facts right, or (giving you the benefit of doubt) just too biased, maybe you should not say anything at all.

I cannot beleive that Robert Pattinson or Emile de Raven even considered doing this movie. I am appalled at another Summit Ent stunt. How could you take one of the most serious incidents inl American history do a movie about it and make almost all leads non American? In case you didn’t have someone there that you knew let’s just recap this. It happened to Americans!!!!!!!!!! Do you think some narcissistic boy like Robert Pattinson cares what happened to this country? His favorite thing to do is get high with Kirsten and then the two of them can make fun of everyone around them. All these young girls will now always think this tragic thing happened to Robert not that it was one of the most defining moments of our history.
I love Pierce Bronson and wish he had turned down this role.
I don’t care how many father’s continue to shell out money so their little girls can go see Robert Pattinson, he can’t act and thank god in two years someone else will be the it guy and he will only be a bad memory!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say I’m surprised by all the positive reviews here, especially from New Yorkers. I really liked the movie up until the end, but as a New Yorker myself, I found the ending to be nothing short of appalling. It’s a cheap, dirty shot, taking something that evokes such intense emotions and forcing you to apply those emotions to the movie. Yes, the ending is devastating, but it’s devastating because of what actually happened in real life and not because of superb writing/acting/directing/movie making. It’s exploiting a tragedy, and I was not okay with that. I know that lots of other movies take the same strategy, but I felt it was just much too soon for this. And at least when you watch Pearl Harbor, the ending is right there in the title. I found the ending to be unrelated to the story, and just a cheap ploy to give the movie a twist and to get you to have a strong reaction to the film.

My God, what is up with these critics? This movie was outstanding and I don’t understand how anyone can possibly call it boring or exploitative. If you want boring and exploitative, try some of the other movies that made the top ten this week, including Avatar and Dear John!! This movie is a gem. Rober Pattinson is amazing and an extremely talented actor. Trying to channel James Dean? What rubbish!! He is obviously more than just a pretty face; like Meryl Streep, he actually BECOMES the character he portrays. To anyone reading this comment, I would suggest dis-regarding the critics and spending a couple of hours watching something truly exceptional!

I’m not a giggly teenager. While viewing Remember Me I never once thought, “Gee, that Pattinson is hot.” I was engrossed in the unfolding story and in the complexity of the characters. I do wish there had been time devoted to dialogue deepening the relationship with Tyler and Ally, but that is easily overlooked. I found myself pondering the frustations and internalizing the emotions of each of the characters. I laughed. I cried. I related.

Don’t listen to the critics. Listen to the public. This movie was subtle, reflective, and beautiful.

Remember Me is a heart-felt, well put together film. I felt that all the actors were superb; it was very well cast. I don’t think its right to criticize Robert Pattinson for performance. It was great to see him in a role like this, and he really embraced it.

There is a note at the beginning of this reply section that says RUDE/CRASS/BIGOTED comments will be immediately deleted. So my question is how come some of these so called critics were not deleted?
The movie is a beautiful little film that has a powerful message. Robert’s acting was brilliant. It was so much better then expected after the twilight movies. Indeed all the actors played their parts well.
I am not a young person either so I do not fit the teen/twilight fan demographic. As others have said. Go and see it for yourself.
NO ONE should be persuaded by a critic’s viewpoint. They have agenda’s. I personally would feel insulted if it was suggested to me that I should make up my mind about this movie based on their comments.
I am happy to say I am capable of making my own mind up. Thank God for that.
I do not believe that the ending of the movie was in any way offensive.
What happened with 9/11 was a tragic loss of life seen all around the world practically as it happened. We have the technology to do this now and it magnified the shock and horror of the moment. It happened. Many other horrible things have happened in the world both before and since. Some of them because of this atrocity.
Remember Me does not exploit the situation and it was handled well in my opinion.
Not coming from USA it is the first movie I have seen that has touched on this time. I do not think it is a bad thing for the world to be reminded of the senselessness of this tragedy. I realize that people in NY live with it always and I do not want to demean their loss in any way.

By the way I think If PINKERTON had any class at all he should officially apologize to Pattinson and the cast for revealing the twist in the movie…That you have now ruined for those who just wanted to see what critics think and then have it revealed only a day or more into it being in the theaters, the more and more I think on it I hope you lose your job…I’m sure if enought people wrote to your editor or whatever crappy blog or rag you write for we could see the end to your job…Regardless of peoples decision at the end of the movie you already put it out there. Now that is tragic. Hope Pattinson knows that this is a sign of jealousy to bring him down…Some of the greatest movies ever had poor reviews, but all in all it means nothing…Go see Rememer me..:)

It is more than spiteful to reveal what Pinkerton did..Although those who have seen it and can remove Pattinson from his Twilight films, and see that he is moving a very independent direction which was probably his intentions anyway. Will enjoy a movie without a whole lot of bullcrap and hollywood puff. By the way the what Pinkerton revealed may give away the ending but it does not reveal the power of the casts tangled lives that draws the conclusion that we all live our lives knowing there is tragedy. I’d give the movie 3stars.

Remember Me was a beautifully done movie. You could feel the characters’ pain and joy and the yearning for a connection to those around them. The entire cast gets kudos from me. The ending was not offensive. It gave me pause to remember all those whose lives were so cruelly interrupted by that tragic event. They were regular people who were connected to families, friends and co-workers and this movie brought home that they should not be forgotten. A wonderfully touching story. Thank you, Mr. Pattinson, for not only being in this movie but for making sure that is was made.

I have no problem with Pattinson. I think he is a good actor and did a decent job with the crap script he was handed. But I have a bone to pick with the ending. Maybe the screenwriter thought he could carelessly throw 9/11 in at the end because most of Rob’s fans are teenagers who were barely alive during the event. But the ending took away any and all of what was earned via good acting to begin with. It was incredibly inappropriate to use such a real and devastating event for the sole purpose of eliciting emotion. 9/11 had nothing to do with the rest of the movie. All people involved in making this movie should be ashamed.

It appears that a partial reason that the “movie critics” are losing their jobs are because they are out of touch with what the public likes. And why are you so negative. You don’t have to like the movie but maybe you can hit on the positives without so much negativity. I am a 55 year old mom with a 22 year old son. I was amazed with this movie. It never lagged, I felt Tylers pain with his father, his love for his brother and his sister. And why in the hell didn’t his dad get his priorities right? I felt myself pulled into this movie wanting to yell at his father too. Rob may have brought me to the movie but the story and the acting will bring me back. I was shocked at the ending but not offended. It brings us back to reality that you never know what is going to happen from moment to moment. Critics: maybe you should pay attention to this movie. It didn’t feel like a movie but a true life story that could happen to anyone and anytime and New Yorkers know better than anyone. Congratulations to everyone involved in the making of this movie. Not all movies have to be stupid/stoners/drinkers/scifi or sex crazed.

Fearless is the emotion I left the theater with. When De Ravin had the slight smile at the end you could tell she was now unafraid. Not just of the subway but life in general. Surprises come at you from left field some good others bad but knowing this and accepting it is something we all must do. Find peace SOMEHOW and live your life. To continue; the acting and direction were extremely superb and the coldness between father and son was so real it was as if it wasn’t a movie at all. One of my now favorites and it will always be. Great job and thank you for making this film.

Critics should not hate on Rob becuz he’s attractive and talented. These reviews sound person and not objective at all. Remember Me is a really good movie.

I am a fifty three year old woman. Not a fan of teen Twilight or team Edward or Jacob or Bella or whoever. I went to see Remember Me on the opening night. My movie experience went something like this: I got to the theater early with my seventy year old friend. She and I bought our Senior Citizens tickets, then turned around to see the line forming behind us. Almost all teenagers. Just then I started to question our decision to see this movie. I knew the kids would talk, giggle, text, run up and down the isles while I tried unsuccessfully to enjoy the movie.
I was not disappointed for the first 20 minutes of the movie. The kids did as expected, but sometime between the first quarter of the movie and around half way, they settled down. They were as mesmerized as I by the acting of Mr. Pattinson and his entire cast. Three quarters of the way in, we were applauding. Ten minutes before the end you could have heard a pen drop.
BRAVO MR. PATTINSON! You wield a magic wand. The critics are idiots. Especially that Nick Pinkerton. I am extremely upset with him because had I read his review I would missed viewing the gift that Robert Pattinson gave me. I witnessed teenagers shutting their mouths and actually listening. Which in itself is a great feat to accomplish. But I also listened to them talking after the movie. And not one of them said that they got the message to do what you want because anything can happen. I heard them talking about 911 and how it hurt so many American’s and how we should never forget!
So….I say to all those critics that are naysayers, Go take a flying leap off the 88th floor! This movie made me proud of American teenagers and that’s something I haven’t felt in ages. My seventy year old friend thought the same thing and she’s been around along time and seen alot in her lifetime. She like myself loved the movie and agreed Barbara Walters about Robert Pattinson reminding her of James Dean, and she loved the message that was conveyed here. Go see the movie for yourself, if you are undecided, don’t listen to idiot critics, listen to the Goden Girls! We all loved it!

I am getting so sick of the 9/11 references.
Like that cant be an ending to a movie EVER
If this was anyone other than Robert Pattinson youd be singing its praises.

Ive seen the movie- thought it was very well acted.
Iam not a teenager and am not given in to fits of hysterical screaming when I see Rob on screen,
I base my opinion on the movie itself and suggest that these critics do the same
We can get past the character Edward Cullen- why cant you???

It’s funny, my husband and I just watched “Up in the Air” two nights ago and we were both astounded at how high that movie had been lauded. It was fine, an average movie-not horrible, not wonderful, not an entire waste of two hours but definitely, definitely not deserving of the many awards it was nominated for. Then we saw “Remember Me”. It was beautiful and moving and well acted. I was far more impressed with the critically bashed film. It just goes to show how worthless movie critics are. I think I’m done reading movie reviews-I’m tired of the sheer amazement I feel every time I wholeheartedly disagree with the “experts.”

I am a 46 year old wife and mom from LI N.Y.so this movie hit home for me. I thought it was deeply emotional and real. All the performances were moving and thought provoking. I was very moved by Rob Pattinson’s performance and felt he accurately portrayed the somewhat tortured soul in this movie, a very different tortured soul than in Twilight. I too had no problem seeing this character for who he was separate from the Twilight character and I applaud Rob for that. I hope people who don’t know him for Twilight(if there are any)see him for the brilliant young actor that he is as this performance did for myself and my husband. I thought the end was tastefully done although I was dreading it as it started to unfold as I could see what was untilmately going to happen, being a N.Y.er and having lived it.Critic are just people with opinons. It’s our opinion that should count, not theirs.

I personally love this movie and I am in 50s! The movie is deep and complex and you need to pay attention to totally understand and “take in” this movie. Maybe this is the reason why many critics don’t like it as this movie lacks simplicity that apparently is appealing to many Americans. This movie, as somebody wrote above, is refreshing and different and made me smile and cry and moved me deeply. I saw this movie already three times and every time I liked it even more! During my second & third viewing I noticed some new meaningful details that I missed the first time like for example tattoed “Tyler” name on his roomate’s right arm at the one of last scenes of the movie. Robert’s performance is just brilliant! He is such a fine actor that deserves more prise and credit then critics give him! And as Belle above wrote - Please see this movie - you will not be disappointed!

I saw RM yesterday and it blew me away. I was so immersed in the characters. I felt their pain, their struggle, their heartache. The ending was not in bad taste. All I can say for the critics who pan this movie is either they were high when they saw this film or they are liars - or both. They should move to DC and hang out with the members of the US Congress, all of whom are out of touch. Great job to the cast of RM.

I get so sick of critics who only see negative or more accurately find things to be negative about. They might want to remember there has never been a statue raised to honour a critic! Remember Me is an excellent film that is real, where the love scenes exude a genuine emotion and connection between the characters. The dialogue is believable, the scenes of their apartment, the streets of New York etc are real and not glamourised. The tension between Tyler and his father is palpable which speaks of the acting talents of both Robert Pattinson and Pierce Brosnan. All the lead actors embodied their characters and had me both sympathising and empathising with them. I wanted to know their stories. And as to all the hoopla over the ending; it was not in the least offensive. If we listened to the “nay sayers” then we would never have any films that have had as part of their story WWI, WWII, Vietnam War, the sinking of the Titanic or any other major event that involved the loss of lives. Go see Remember Me - you won’t be disappointed.

all of these critics need to get a life and maybe a new job, or at least open their eyes!!! funny how all they can do is be negative about this wonderful movie, and with Robert Pattinson, however, if they read all the blogs of people that have seen the movie, EVERYONE LOVES IT!!!!! I am a 40yo and yes I am a huge Twilight and more so Rob fan. However, I think Rob played this role very well and brought the character of Tyler to life. I did not think of Edward Cullen once!!! WELL DONE ROB AND THE CAST AND CREW FOR A WONDERFUL MOVIE. I have already seen it twice and will no doubt go again before it leaves the cinemas.

I smell the jealousy, may be Rob needs to look fat and ugly so he won’t get these kind of comments, He is new actor not much chnace to play many films before, but he tried hard to prove its no because of his face, why not give encouragment, It sonds like all the teen fans and other fans especialy the women who suport him because of his face, I don’t think that way, Twilight would be sucessful because the writer and directer they made the stoy alive, and fans wish that can be true. in our hart, we all have weak and need something to fulfill our needs. this is movie story for. Be kind, if one day that goes back to you, how you fell about it. Rob is young, I see him as a humble person, try to ues jokeing and laughing to hide his nervous, don’t push him to become a drugs/drinks hunter like others who were young and can’t handdle the presure.BE NICE!

It had a intense love story. I didn’t feel confused the whole time due to gaps in the script. Like so many movies these days. Because it told details and details, like reading a book. It was a solid 8 with parts that reached 9/10. I would watch it again…

I went to see Remeber Me today and I had heard that there was this intense ending about a subject that is still tough for me, but I went to see it and I am so glad I did. It’s a movie that takes you through so many emotions. It was funny, sad and sweet. I don’t think the ending was in poor taste at all. It’s not the core of the movie but merely a reminder to everyone that you should try to live each day as fully as you can, tell those in your life you love them and don’t waste time being angry, because you never know what the next moment will hold.
Those of you that are timid about what you may have heard about the ending, please, don’t let this stop you from going to see it. Yes, I cried during different places in the movie, but I laughed in others as well. I am glad I went to see this. It’s a really good movie with great actors playing regular people with real-life challenges.
Don’t shy away from it, go see it. I really believe you will be glad you did.

I found the story, and the movie quite good. I knew nothing about the ending, tho. Came away in a bit of SHOCK.
We must always remember those who were just living their little daily lives only to have them robbed by some senseless moronic political message.

Thanks to all to bring the people from that day, back into our conscious memory. It is quite the story to watch. You become so involved in the families’ lives, not knowing what will happen.

SPOILERS! DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE.:
I agree with all of you. I truly believed it was an amazing movie, & despite what most critics are saying, I think Rob’s acting was phenomenal! He was so believable as the broken and messed up Tyler & I give him so much more respect as an actor. All the other actors were terrific, including the 11 yr. old, who shocked me by how believably good she was. Lastly, although it left me bawling my eyes out, I thought the ending was clever, and it completely came from left field. I am lucky enough to not have known anyone from nine eleven, but this movie shows how one family in particular is effected, which gave it a personal touch. Great Movie!!

Rent How To Be to see something entirely different from Mr. Pattinson

I quite liked this film. Bit of a tear-jerker but I knew that going in. I think Mr. Pattinson brings a lot to Tyler. I think his choice of projects during this Twilight phase is quite interesting. All of his co stars are first rate here. Especially the charmer who plays his sister. Their scenes together are very real. If Mr. Pattinson keeps up with these kinds of choices, i.e, Bel Ami, then Water for Elephants, he will soon be a force to be reckoned with and some of the naysayers will be eating their words. He does have a presence on the screen and people have to realize their pre-conceived notions are probably not correct. He is quite a lot more than Edward Cullen. Rent How To Be if you want to seem entirely different.

Saw this movie on opening night and I have to say I was kind of shocked. For one, I have been looking forward to this movie for a long time, since I first saw the preview. When I actually saw the movie I realized that the preview definitely did not give this movie the credit it deserved. It has a lot more than meets the eye. I was truly amazed at the depth of the characters and that each story line was just as important and effective as the main love connection between Pattinson and de Ravin.
The script could have been a bit smoother in one or two spots but I believe this was the writer’s (or something…) first film and screenplay. It is an all around amazing film. I am going to see it again tomorrow, I feel the second look will be even better!
5 stars, hands down.

I saw the film and found it refreshing in it’s gritiness and filmic qualities. It’s time we went beyond the expensive, glossy Hollywood looks and get back to storytelling. I think we have a hard time accepting 9/11 because we were INVADED- why are the critics not offended by the Iraq War being used as the plot? Maybe because we’re the INVADERS? No-one likes being weak and vulnerable, and this film portrays that, much to the crtitics’ chagrin.

Robert and the rest of the cast did an excellent job. The story was real and felt like people you would actually know. I didn’t get any of the so-called James Dean posturing nor can I understand how anyone was offended by the tasteful ending. It was totally in keeping with the realness of the movie. Not a plot device at all but a very real conclusion to a very real life story. It seems that some just want to trash this movie and it’s male lead without true cause.

Bottom line: Well acted movie that will cause you to think about what’s important in life. Don’t let the negativity of others cause you to miss out. This film is now solidly on my favorites list. A+

Saw the movie yesterday and thought it was fantastic, five stars for sure. Rob was beyond great and held his own beautifully with the older and more experienced actors like Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper. This is definitely a must see and worth the wait. This movie proves he’s a keeper in Hollywood. Bring on Bel Ami.

I can’t understand the indignation of the critics that bashed this movie. I like the people who already commented, think perhaps they didn’t see the same movies that I did? Or perhaps they just don’t want this “golden boy” to succeed? It was very well acted and convincing. Those who were offended by the ending sound like the Crazy PC people who jump at any chance to hunt down anyone who misspeaks. America, what has happened to your sense of imagination and character?

Poetic, moving, emotional, brilliant, original and breath taking. I was so taken back with the ending and thought Pattinson was amazing and believable. Thank goodness he had a “real” sensual scene that made us all blush and want more. Having lived 13 blocks from the towers I felt a great sense of loss and emotion yet felt the love and warmth that took place at the same moment. A+++

One of the most powerful movies I have ever seen. Real life played by actors giving very plausible performances. Pattinson drew me in and I forgot his beauty - this man has the ability to channel an incredibly broad range and depth of emotions to his audience. One of the most gut wrenching, yet tasteful and sensitive dramas I’ve ever experienced. A +++ Great acting by the entire case. Pattinson is here to stay!

Nice.I believe Robert Pattinson has a lot to show us as he continues acting. In this movie, he makes me laugh, makes me cry and gives me warm fuzzies with his attention and dedication to his little sister. My daughter ask me going in if I could get past “Edward” and watch Robert Pattinson. I said that was Robert’s job. To make me see him in a new character role and he did the job well. When I left the theater, I felt I knew “Tyler” and knew those who Tyler had touched were better off for knowing him and knew they would miss him. Well done.

I really was moved by this movie. I knew about the ending and was curious after reading all the seriously offended critics. Everyone in the movie was really well cast. They were believably real characters. As the story unfolds, you forget where you are and become wrapped up in the story. It is not a Hollywood formula movie. It is deeper and you continue to think about it long after you finish watching it. It truly touches on remembering to love, appreciate and forgive each day and love those nearest to you. I really am perplexed by all the ridiculous attacks on this movie. They must not have seen the movie I watched.

Critics are well known for slamming some really good movies, but both USA Today and Roger Ebert, (among many others) really praised this movie, and their opinions are very well respected. Anyway, saw the movie for myself with friends today and we all just loved it and thought it was great. BTW Robert does a FANTASTIC job of acting in this movie. It’s definitely a must see.

I liked the movie - it was gritty and real rather than glamorised and I felt all the main characters, including Pattinson’s were very believable and convincing. I sympathised and empathised with them and felt for them on their journey. It left me thinking and the 2 hours of the movie sped by. I thought the ending was sensitively handled and fail to see how it could offend anyone. All in all this is a movie I will be adding to my DVD collection.
