Oakland R&B chanteuse Goapele is back from her sabbatical from the spotlight with a song tailor made for summer love. Titled “Hey Boy,” the song is nothing like you’ve heard from Goapele. Known for her smooth vocals over mellow beats, “Hey Boy” finds the singer getting her groove on with an uptempo jam.
The song premiered on Essence.com and Goapele described the song co-writen by British singer Estelle as “fun and flirty.” She also said the track will make you want to break out your skates even if you haven’t in years.” The “Closer” songstress also acknowledged that “Hey Boy” is a huge departure from the music she is known for, but the single does hint at the sound on her upcoming album “Strong As Glass.”
