The ceremony, taking place Aug. 21 on Hollywood Boulevard, will honor the norteño group and unveil their star during the event which will be streamed live on walkoffame.com.

“Los Tigres Del Norte has entertained many generations with their music,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in a prepared statement.
This also marks the 2,527th star given on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The band was founded in the late ’60s and went on to become a major Spanish-language act with roots on the west coast. Their fan base has grown each year thanks to their musical style: lyrically rich compositions that took on social themes such as immigration.

The band has more than 500 recorded songs, according to a spokesperson for the group and has received numerous awards including six Grammys, six Latin Grammys and a lifetime achievement recognition from the Latin Recording Academy.
The group also established Los Tigres Del Norte Foundation in 2000 and through that organization donated $500,000 to UCLA’s Chicano Studies Center in order to create and preserve The Frontera Collection of Mexican and Mexican American Recordings, the largest collection of Mexican music.
Next up for the band is their first studio recording in four years scheduled for release in October. The album’s first single, “La Bala (The Bullet),” was released in July.
