Potential ‘Office’ Spinoff Identifies Dwight Schrute’s Brother
Thomas Middleditch is locked in to play Jeb Schrute, the brother of Rainn Wilson‘s Dwight Schrute in a potential Office spinoff called The Farm, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The spin-off centers around Dwight as he works as a beet farmer and runs a bed and breakfast. His brother Jeb, whose jobs have included stints as a worm farmer and Bigfoot hunter, reportedly runs a successful pot farm in northern California. Described as “a happy-go-lucky guy who’s excited but not capable, motivated but lacking follow through in the potential,” Jeb is said to not have Dwight’s tenacity, principle or work ethic.
Middleditch joins a cast that also includes Majandra Delfino as Dwight’s younger sister Frannie, as well as Blake Garrett as his nephew, Cameron.
The Farm is getting an unusual introduction: the pilot is slated to run as an episode of The Office, ostensibly sometime this season, given that showrunner Greg Daniels just announced it would be the last for the long-running series.
Middleditch, an alum up of the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, has appeared in a bunch of shorts for both Funny or Die and College Humor, while he recently scored a role in Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis’ recent flick The Campaign.
