NASHIK: Nine agencies across the country on Monday participated in a pre-bid meeting for the malaria pest control contract for a year at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, the headquarters of the Nashik Municipal Corporation.
The Nashik municipal administration informed the bidders about the terms and conditions of the tender for the contract — the agencies will have to install the GPRS on their fogging machines.
The officials asked the agencies to file the bids by April 13.
The term of the existing contractor has already ended. The standing committee of the municipal corporation, during a meeting last month, had given a three-month extension to the malaria pest control contract up to May 31. Accordingly, the civic administration has started the process of appointing a new agency for the pest control works for a year.
Speaking to TOI, a civic body official said, “We are in the process of appointing a new agency for the malaria pest control works for a one year from June onwards. The annual contract is estimated to cost at Rs 3 crore. We had called a pre-bid meeting at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan for the purpose wherein nine agencies from Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and other cities participated. They were informed about the terms and conditions of the contract. Moreover, they will have to install GPRS system on their fogging machines. This is a part of the measures to bring transparency in the works and for the civic body to ensure that the works were being carried out properly.”
He further said, “We have asked the agencies to file their bids by April 13. The tender process is expected to be completed by April-end. The new agency is expected to start the work from June this year.”
According to the sources from the health department of the civic body, the pest control contract ended on October 31, 2013 and the proposal could not be presented at the GBM due to the code of conduct that came into effect during the Lok Sabha and the state assembly polls. The GPRS system for the pest control system is to be introduced. Moreover, it also took time to prepare the terms and conditions for the fresh tender for the contract. Thus, an extension of three months was given to existing contractors.”
