Man who fled cops at 100 mph, crashed into wall, swam a river to escape gets 2 years in prison

Terry Daniel Yost Jr.

A parolee who crashed into a wall while trying to elude police will serve two years in prison.

Terry Daniel Yost Jr. was visiting an Estacada-area home in July when Clackamas County deputies arrived looking for stolen property.

Deputies checked the license plate of Yost's BMW and discovered he was wanted on a federal warrant.

Yost, 29, jumped out the window and sped away – almost hitting a patrol car – with deputies in pursuit,

Yost blew through stop signs and at times exceeded 100 mile per hour before crashing into a wall. Yost kept going on foot, swimming a river and escaping.

Cops found meth in Yost's car. In a shoebox several feet away the car they found identification and computer passwords for a woman Yost had done yard work for.

Yost pleaded guilty Thursday in Clackamas County Circuit Court to identity theft, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another and attempting to elude police.

His federal parole was revoked. Yost will spend a year in federal custody that another year in state prison. As part of a plea agreement, the meth possession charge was dismissed.

Yost has past convictions that include burglary, theft, auto theft and drug possession.

"You're out of control," said Circuit Judge Eve Miller.

"I don't know when you're going to wake up and figure that out," Miller said. "With the time you serve, I hope you grow up a bit."
