If ‘Transformers’ machines had a coffee maker, CoffeeBoxx would be it

Share

The CoffeeBoxx is a crush-proof device designed to make a hot cup of coffee -- and withstand the weight of a car and maybe a dust storm.

“Good coffee isn’t just for beautiful people with beautiful kitchens and cushy 9-5 jobs like in the commercials,” writes the company on its Kickstarter crowd-funding page. “The CoffeeBoxx is for hard-working people who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.”

We suggest you read that last quote aloud in a very deep, super manly voice.

The Oxx company behind the CoffeeBoxx created a Kickstarter campaign to fund production of the coffee makers. The campaign so far has raised nearly $44,000 of its $50,000 goal, with 12 days to go.

So what makes this coffee maker so tough? The company says its engineers spent hours developing a crush-proof chassis that can actually withstand the weight of a car. It’s waterproof, dust-proof and includes stainless steel external tie-downs so you can strap it to the top of your car -- or helicopter.

The 11-pound coffee maker is made with impact-resistant polymers designed to survive bumps, nicks and possible drops off of a cliff.

The machine is compatible with any K-Cup style pod and can brew eight, 10 and 12 ounces of coffee at a time. It can also hold 2.5 liters of liquid to make hot water for oatmeal, ramen or whatever your rugged lifestyle calls for.

If funding comes through, the company plans to produce and ship its CoffeeBoxxes to funders by March 2015. The suggested retail price for the CoffeeBoxx is $300.
