College Football Saturday Miami Redhawks vs Cincinnati Bearcats Free Pick

Week 4 college football and the Miami Redhawks will travel to Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats. The game has a start time of 7:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on CBSSN. Current Vegas odds have the Bearcats listed as 28.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 61.5.

Analysis: After going 10-4 in 2010, the Miami Redhawks have gone just 8-28 the last 3 years, which includes an 0-12 mark last year. In steps former Notre Dame OC, Chuck Martin, with hopes of turning this program around. It will not be easy despite the fact that they return 50 lettermen, including 15 starters from last year. The year has not started off well for them are they are 0-3, which includes a home lose to Eastern Kentucky, which is an FCS school. No shame in losing Big to Michigan and Marshall, but losing at home to a mid-level FCS team shouldn’t happen. Offensively the Redhawks have really struggled this year as they come in ranked 104th in total offense (345 ypg) and 120th in scoring (15.7 ppg), while on defense they rank 69th in yards allowed (390.7 ypg) and 95th in scoring defense (31 ppg).

The Cincinnati Bearcats parlayed a soft schedule into a nice 9-4 season, but they did struggle at the end of the year when the schedule got tougher. Now the Bearcats are in the 2nd year of Tommy system and with plenty of talent returning they should be ready to take the next step and that would be the American Athletic Conference Title. The Bearcats were the last team to play a game this year, as their season opener was last week. They won that game in a 58-34 shootout over the Toledo Rockets. Gunner Kiel had an awesome debut for the Cats as he threw for 418 yards and 6 TD in the game with no INTs. Overall the Cats put up 584 yards in the game, but their defense struggled as they allowed 563 yards to the Rockets.

Pick: Gonna look at the Bearcats in this one. Gunner Keil had an awesome debut for the Cats vs Toledo and that should continue here vs a bad Miami defense that played a bit over their heads vs Michigan last week. The Bearcat defense really struggled vs Toledo and you can bet that that is what they worked on this week in practice. This defense is not even close as bad as they showed in that game and they will be facing a much weaker offense this time around. Look for Cincinnati to win by 31+ here.
