PORT CANAVERAL, Fla., Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Officials Sunday said they were investigating the death of a newborn whose body was found in a cruise ship cabin docked at the Caribbean island of Saint Martin.

The Carnival Cruise Lines ship returned to Port Canaveral, Fla., where FBI agents boarded the vessel Saturday, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported.

The baby's body was found by a Carnival's Dream employee Wednesday, the newspaper said. The infant's 20-year-old mother was detained by authorities in Saint Martin, although details surrounding the death have not been released.

The mother has not yet returned to the United States, Special Agent Dave Couvertier told the Sentinel. He said Carnival has been "fully cooperative" with the investigation.
