Names of driver, passenger killed in crash released
Authorities have released the names of two people killed in a crash Sunday night.The Iowa State Patrol said the single-vehicle crash was reported at 7:14 p.m. east of the intersection of County Road C-26 and County Road R-33.  The crash scene is 7 miles east of the town of Renwick, which is located about 100 miles north of Des Moines.A crash report shows the driver of the car was eastbound on County Road C-26 when he lost control, the car hit a utility pole, rolled over and came to rest on its top in a soybean field.The driver was identified as Jaimes Santos, 43, of Goodell.  Troopers said he was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.The passenger, Armando Romero-Soto, 50, of Hampton, was also pronounced dead at the scene.Troopers said the driver was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision, but the passenger was.The collision remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
