He tried to win his way back into her life with public declarations of love and a tattoo portrait of her face on his leg - but it was all in vain.

Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson and Evelyn Lozada’s marriage is now official declared over with their divorce finalised on Wednesday.

One month after she filed for the legal separation from the disgraced NFL player in Florida, they are both now single, TMZ reports.

In an additional statement, Lozada’s lawyer Michael Gilden told People magazine: ‘Evelyn and Mr. Johnson were divorced this morning in an uncontested final hearing. My client is a single woman and looks forward to her future.’

While Chad initially fought against the move, he ended up submitting documents of his own for the separation last week.

Evelyn cited that the marriage was irretrievably broken after he allegedly head-butted her during an altercation over a receipt for condoms she found in his car.

He was arrested on August 11 on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge and Lozada was treated for a laceration to her forehead, police Cpt. Dale Engle claimed at the time.

The judge also upheld a private pre-nup agreement.

The 34-year-old wide receiver expected Evelyn, 36, to pay her own legal fees, citing a provision in the prenuptial agreement where both sides agreed to pay their own way if they were to split up.

The Basketball Wives star - who spoke out in a tearful interview about her time with him - added: 'Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.’

Meanwhile, the former Miami Dolphins player and Dancing With The Stars alumni took to Twitter to show off an inking of Lozada's face on his limb.

Denying their separation would be permanent, Johnson answered an inquisitive fan: ‘Divorce? Child please ... that's my WIFE.’

Johnson also issued a public apology via his website. ‘I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred.

‘I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death.’
