Brown named to watch list for Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award

The award honors the nation’s top offensive player from the state of Texas.

Running back Malcolm Brown has been placed on the preseason watch list for the 2014 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which honors the top offensive player in the nation who either hails from the state of Texas, graduated from a Texas high school or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.

Last season, Brown posted a team-high 904 rushing yards, playing in all 13 games with four starts. He had five 100-yard rushing games, becoming the 11th player in Texas history to post five or more in a season.

A native of Cibolo, Texas, Brown averaged 105.1 rushing yards over the last eight games (841 total yards) during 2013 and eight of his team-high nine rushing touchdowns occurred in the final seven contests.

Brown enters his senior season ranked No. 17 on the UT all-time rushing yards list (1,970).

Brown is also on the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award (nation's top running back) and Maxwell Award (nation's best player).

Named for the former Longhorn and Heisman Trophy-winning running back, the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award features 43 players on the preseason watch list.
