The team is continuing to work on the issue

The development team at EA Sports announces that it is removing a number of new players from the official database of FIFA 15 for the moment in order to allow gamers to use the included search via name feature in the Career Mode of the title.

The company explains in an official forum post that “Some FIFA fans were experiencing an issue when searching for player names in Career Mode. We identified that the search-by-name bug was caused by a number of new players in the database. In the short term, to enable search-by-name functionality, we have removed the new players – we will get them back in the database as soon as possible.”

The company is also thanking all those who have offered reports on the issue, as their feedback allowed developers to pinpoint its cause and determine how it can be fixed.

It’s unclear at the moment exactly which players were removed from the official database of FIFA 15 or when the development team at EA Sports plans to introduce them back into the title without once again breaking the functionality of the search by name element of the Career Mode.

At the moment, fans are pressuring the team to offer a clear list of the players that are no longer part of the database and to offer an option to keep them in even if the feature set is limited.

FIFA 15 and long-term support

FIFA 15 is one of the biggest launches of the year for publisher Electronic Arts and that means that the company will move as quickly as possible to solve any potential problem with the title so that long-term sales are not affected in any major way.

The current player and name search problem seems limited and only affects the Career Mode, which has been losing popularity in the last few years as more features were added to the Ultimate Team element of FIFA 15.

EA Sports is also asking those who are experiencing problems with the football sim on the PlayStation 4 to send in reports so that the team can see exactly what causes the issue.

FIFA 15 was introduced last week on the PC, Sony platforms, the Xbox One and last-gen consoles.

The title offers a solid football experience with improved gameplay, better graphics and a huge number of new presentation details.

For the moment, EA Sports has not said when a first patch for it might be launched.
