Dog Owners Boycott Virtua Program After Haddonfield Woman's Pit Bull Denied

The pit bull was denied access into the pet therapy program, the Burlington County Times reports.

Therapy dog owners throughout the area are withdrawing from Virtua Hospital’s Voorhees Visiting Paws pet therapy program over the hospitals’ refusal to admit a Haddonfield woman’s pit bull into their program, the Burlington County Times reports.

The dog’s owner, Michele Schaffer-Stevens, claims the program refused to process her application without meeting the dog first, according to the report.

The program doesn’t have any policy regarding the approval of specific breeds of dog, but does reserve the right to deny any applicant for any reason.
