Here's what you need to know about UbuContest 2015

Canonical, the company behind the world's most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, the UbuContest 2015 team, as well as the Ubucon Germany 2015 team are proud to announce the first UbuContest event.

UbuContest 2015 aims to be a well-organized, enlightening and engaging competition members of the Ubuntu Linux community can participate in in order to present their most awesome ideas, as well as the most innovative, breathtaking and intelligent Scopes and apps for the Ubuntu Touch and Ubuntu Desktop operating systems, which will lead up to Ubuntu's future, convergence.

Starting the third week of July 2015 and until September 18, 2015, participants must create and publish their applications and Scopes on the Ubuntu Linux operating system using the well-known Ubuntu SDK (Software Development Kit) software, into one of the following five dedicated categories: Best Team Entry, Best Individual Entry, Outstanding Technical Contribution, Outstanding Non-Technical Contribution, and Convergence Hero.

"We know it's not all about shiny new apps and scopes! A great platform also needs content, great design, testing, documentation, bug management, developer support, interesting blog posts, news, technology demonstrations and all of the other incredible things our community does every day. So we give you, our community members, the opportunity to nominate other community members for prizes!" reads the announcement.

Winners will be awarded Ubuntu phones

And now for the most interesting part of the announcement, we can tell you that the winners of the UbuContest 2015 event will be awarded a vast array of prizes, starting with four Ubuntu phones manufactured by both Meizu and BQ, awesome Ubuntu T-shirts, various interesting items from the official Ubuntu Online Shop, as well as the big prize, a travel grant to the UbuCon Germany 2015 event that will take place in Berlin.

Once again, we remind you that the UbuContest 2015 has event already started, so if you who want to participate in the event, you can do it anytime you want.
