Legendary month-long electronic music festival KaZantip has grown in legend for its non-stop action, beautiful scenery and the DJs it manages to attract to the Crimean coast where it used to call home. Unfortunately, political leaders decided that war was the answer and forced the festival to relocate, but the party must go on. The 2015 edition has traveled across the world to the picturesque island of Koh Puos in Sihanoukville, Cambodia this winter from Feb. 18 to Feb. 28, 2015.
The relocation comes after years of being one of the hidden gems of the European festival circuit, a destination for Eastern Europeans and the wider continent alike. However, when conflict arose in Crimea between the Russian army, Russian separatists and the Ukrainian army, the festival was forced to relocate for safety purposes.
It moved to another territory recently invaded by Russia, Georgia, to the south-west coastline of the country, but the free-spirit of the festival was not appreciated by officials and KaZantip was forced out.... again.
Leaving behind the tumult of Eastern Europe for now, KaZantip has headed to the 1km-square island, owned by a Russian company, with picturesque seaside villas, white sand and clear blue water. One can spend anywhere from 10 Euros ($11.81) to 80 Euros ($94.48) on accommodations a night, making this very affordable.
