Egypt’s mobile phone users continued to grow for the second consecutive month, with the total number of active mobile phone lines increasing to 95.3m at the end of December 2014.

This figure compares to 95.2m users in November, according to indicators of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Vodafone continued its control over the biggest share of market users, despite losing a small number of them. The company’s number of subscribers of mobile services decreased slightly to 39.54m users at the end of December 2014, compared to 39.58m users last November.

Mobinil continued to regain lost clients for the second month in a row, with customer numbers growing to 33.7m users last December. This compares to 33.4m users in November.

Mobinil maintains its market share as the second largest provider of the service in the Egyptian market.

Etisalat also saw a slight decrease in client numbers according to the ministry indicators, as its mobile phone users decreased from 22.1m users last November to 22m users at the end of December 2014.
